The final weekend of regular season matches in the Indian Premier League get going on Saturday with another double header in the tournament. Amazingly with just two days of regular season action left only one side have been eliminated from the competition, which should make for an exciting couple of days of cricket.
The first of those matches comes from the Feroz Shah Kotla where both the Delhi Capitals and the Rajasthan Royals will be playing for something in the opening half of Saturday’s massive double header.
Delhi Capitals
Whatever happens here, the Delhi Capitals know that they will be in the end of season showpiece next week but they still have the chance to finish in the top two of the table and give themselves a couple of bites of the cherry, which has t act as a blinding incentive for them here. In many ways they can attack this one with freedom as even if they fall in a heap again they will still be no worse than third in the table.
They were dented last time out when they came up very short against the Chennai Super Kings, but if they can bounce back from that and put up a stronger showing with the bat there is nothing to suggest they can’t win this match. They have been bowling well for a while now, and in fairness even their bad batting performances are irregular so there is no need for the Capitals to panic here.
Rajasthan Royals
The Rajasthan Royals have suddenly come alive in the tournament but a washout against Bangalore earlier in the week wasn’t really what they needed. While they can still qualify for the play-offs they now need to win and hope both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders are beaten over the weekend, which you would have to suggest is a touch unlikely.
Nevertheless, the Royals have shown that they can win matches and that is something to take into next season with them. If they are going to win this then they will have to find a way to contain this Delhi batting line up and also find a way of avoiding losing early wickets when they have the bat in their hands. Rajasthan just need to do all they can to win here regardless of whether it ends up being good enough or not.
Team News
Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL so Trent Boult is set to continue to spearhead the attack. It might well be an unchanged side for the Capitals with nobody showing terrible form.
Steve Smith has now left to join up with Australia so Ajinkya Rahane will take over as captain once again despite being sacked from the position a couple of weeks ago. Ish Sodhi could get another game as a result.

Betting
This is a slightly tricky match to bet on because of the constant changes Rajasthan Royals have had to entertain in recent matches due to players heading off on international duty. It would help if Delhi Capitals were any sort of a price in this match as I expect them to win it but they are not. When the Royals were under Rahane earlier in the season they were poor and I don’t see why that would change here.
There is one bet that I like the look of in this match though. That comes in the form of the most sixes market where I think the Capitals can get the job done here. The Royals only have two men left in their squad who have more than four sixes for the tournament to their name. Delhi have five of them and Rutherford who has exactly that number in only four outings. The three Delhi spinners are going at less than eight an over so they are hard to get away while only one Rajasthan bowler on show here goes less than eight an over. Delhi have so much more firepower in their ranks and the 10/11 they hit the most sixes looks fair enough to me.
