The North Group of the Royal London One Day Cup concludes on Bank Holiday Monday and it does so with three teams still chasing top spot and the opportunity to bypass the quarter final of the competition.
In among all the drama we have a TV match to enjoy the action with as the final placings in the North get sorted out ahead of the quarter finals this weekend. Nottinghamshire, Worcestershire and Durham have it all to play for.
Monday’s fixtures are as follows: (11am start)
Derbyshire vs Worcestershire
Leicestershire vs Warwickshire
Northamptonshire vs Nottinghamshire
Yorkshire vs Durham
Preview
Nottinghamshire go into the final round of matches with their destiny in their own hands. If they get the win over Northamptonshire at Wantage Road then they will win the group and go straight through to the semi-final. If they slip up the door will be open for T20 Blast champions Worcestershire. They head to Derbyshire in the live match on TV knowing that a win and a Notts loss will see them top the group and going straight into the semi-finals.
Amazingly were both Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire to slip up then Durham could still win the group. They would have to beat Yorkshire by a decent margin but it is still possible. Durham have to beat Yorkshire to make it into a quarter final at the very least. Elsewhere there is a dead rubber at Grace Road where Leicestershire host Warwickshire with both sides already knowing their fate in the competition.

Betting
I’ll go with two bets over the course of Monday. One is a match bet away from the TV and another is a top bat in the TV game. Annoyingly there aren’t many markets around for the TV game which isn’t particularly helpful. Durham are shortening all the time to see off Yorkshire and I can see why. Durham have to win which will affect the price anyway but with Yorkshire out of the competition they are blooding a load of youngsters and fringe players. Adam Lyth, Gary Ballance, Duanne Olivier and Steve Patterson are all resting for Yorkshire while their England players are away anyway. Durham are close to full strength here and Mark Wood appearing is very much a boost. Both teams have highlighted in their respective interests in this match with the squads they have chosen and I’ll play accordingly. Durham for me.
Ben Cox has to be overpriced at 10/1 to top score for Worcestershire in their match against Derbyshire. Derbyshire have a decent enough new ball attack in this competition so down the order is very much the place to be here. Cox already has a First-class ton to his name this season and goes into this match off the back of a solid 87 against Yorkshire in this competition last time out. Cox is at that level in his career where he stands up and is counted in the big matches when he is needed. I’ll back him to do that here at 10s.
Tips
VOID – Back Durham to beat Yorkshire for a 5/10 stake at 1.80 with Bet365
Back B.Cox Top Worcestershire Batsman for a 1/10 stake at 11.00 with Bet365
