2019-20 Premier League – Saturday 26th October Matches Tips and Betting Preview

After a week of European action the Saturday card in the Premier League has been decimated. One of the matches came on Friday night and there are four more to enjoy on Sunday, which doesn’t leave a huge amount for Saturday.

Nevertheless, even on a streamlined card we have the champions on show as well as the Europa League winners so there should be no shortage of quality even allowing for the fact the schedule is reduced. Despite the lack of matches we still have three kick off times.

Early Kick Off

The champions Manchester City have an early opportunity to move to within three points of leaders Liverpool at the top of the table when they host an Aston Villa side whose comfortable run of fixtures could well end in some style here. City picked up a big win against Crystal Palace last week and will be out to repeat that here while Villa might see this as a free shot but ultimately it is damage limitation too.

3pm Matches

Just the three matches take place at the traditional 3pm slot on Saturday afternoon with one of them coming from the Amex Stadium where Brighton and Hove Albion will look for successive home wins after beating Tottenham Hotspur there last time. They take on an Everton team who could do with something on their travels it has to be said.

The other two matches sees the attention largely focusing on the bottom end of the table. Watford begin the weekend bottom of the lot and so they will be eager to get a first win of the season when they host Bournemouth, another side who are poor travellers traditionally. The other match sees West Ham looking to get their season back on track when they host a Sheffield United side who are getting plenty of admirers.

Late Game

The action concludes at Turf Moor where Burnley will look to take the game to Chelsea in a match in which both sides will be fancying their chances. Burnley will move into the top five for a day should they come out on top in the match while Chelsea will be looking to solidify their top four spot and close in on the leaders should anything happen to Liverpool over the weekend. Both teams are in decent form so it should be a competitive finale.

Betting

I was tempted by the overs in the Man City against Aston Villa game but the thought of a push kind of made me think that it wouldn’t be worth it. Instead I’m going to go with just the one bet over the course of Saturday, which comes in the match at the Amex Stadium where I fancy Brighton and Hove Albion are being a little too underrated against Everton.

It isn’t ideal that Aaron Mooy is suspended for the home side but in Pascal Gross they have one of the most creative players in the league and they carry a real threat to the opposing defence these days. I’m just not sure what Everton are anymore. They seem to spend a lot of money each transfer window and don’t really get any better and their away form under Marco Silva is horrendous. Their record at defending set pieces is just as bad since he arrived and Brighton have some monster defenders attacking good quality so I wouldn’t be surprised if the Seagulls feast on that. Brighton beat one poor side in their last match at the Amex. I can see them doing another here.
