The first pool of players complete their week in the Icons of Darts on Friday and after two very good showings so far, we should expect plenty of drama and quality as six men take to their oches to fill our darting fix once again.
I don’t think it is being disrespectful of the other pool in any way to suggest that this one is where the better quality of the two lies and with both groups so far going down to the latter matches, we should get a great day of darts.
The Format
Each day from Monday to Saturday six players will battle it out for a daily title. There are two pools of players, one which plays on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the other which toe the oche on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Each day the six players will play each other once over the best of nine legs with two points for a win. The daily winner is the player with the most points. If players are level on points it is determined on leg difference and then the record between the two. The entire event can be watched on various bookmaker websites, dartshop.tv or the Modus YouTube channel.

Thursday Recap
It was a day dominated by Andy Jenkins in the main on Thursday. He topped the group with four wins from his five matches and had already sewn up the daily title by the time he was beaten by Mike Warburton to round off the day. That win for Warburton was enough to earn him second spot on leg difference with three wins, ahead of David Evans and Ritchie Edhouse. Scott Mitchell came away with a couple of wins but it was a day to forget for Mark Webster. He failed to record a single success.
We have been steadily building up the profit this week and that continued on Thursday. We went with the one bet which was for Andy Jenkins to beat Scott Mitchell. We suggested that Jenkins would be up to speed and Mitchell wouldn’t, given that it was the first game of the day for the latter, and that is exactly how it proved as Jenkins demolished the former Lakeside champion 5-0 to give us a winner for the day.
Friday Line Up
We are set for a cracking final group from this pool of players and it is Keane Barry who will start off as the favourite to come out on top. He was unsuccessful on Wednesday but it might just have been that the schedule went against him. He has a later shift again on Friday which might suit him better. Martin Adams was the man who won the group on Wednesday and he is expected to be the biggest danger to the Irishman once again.
Boris Koltsov has delivered a couple of excellent showings so far this week but has no title to show for his efforts. He’ll want that to change on Friday but he might just need to tidy up his finishing if that is going to happen. Jarred Cole has shown good signs of life this week and will be looking to finish the week with a group title while Dave Parletti and Jose Justicia may well battle for the wooden spoon if the odds are anything to go by.

Outright Betting
I mentioned on Wednesday that Jarred Cole is trending in the right direction. To be fair he didn’t have his best day then but it wasn’t like he was terrible or anything like that. I’m prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. There is no doubt that this group will take some winning, especially with the fixtures the same order they were in on Monday, but it was Monday when Cole was one leg from winning the group so 12/1 on him coming out on top here looks a touch too inflated.
I’m not writing off Keane Barry or Martin Adams by any stretch of the imagination, or indeed Boris Koltsov for that matter but I do believe Cole has shown enough this week that this is a four horse race, and a genuine one at that. When the other three horses are a best priced 7/4, 15/8 and 10/3, the 12/1 on Cole has to be too big. He has the perceived easier two opponents up first so he has the chance to build into his work. The price is too big to resist.
Match Betting
It has been a decent week so far betting wise and I’m going to carry on where I left off on Wednesday with the same bet, which is for the match between Keane Barry and Jarred Cole to have more than 2.5 180s. I’m amazed we’re still getting this line because between them they have covered it in both matches so far this week. There were three in their first meeting on Monday and then they combined for five on Wednesday.
I expect both these youngsters to deliver good showings on Friday and with this being their last match of the day both players should be fully warmed up and on song. They are both more than capable of scoring well enough to cover this line on their own but you’ve got to think they will both contribute to the total. The price is lower than it was on Wednesday but I still think the over is a good bet at 6/5.
