Preview

The top two in the table are both in action on Wednesday night when Liverpool and Manchester City both take the pitch again. Manchester City are in action earlier in the night when they host Newcastle United in a match which neutrals will hope is a whole lot more entertaining than the recent FA Cup meeting between the two sides. We have to wait until the later kick off until we see the new champions Liverpool. They make the trip to Sussex to take on a Brighton and Hove Albion side who mathematically aren’t safe but will be with another win.

The other two matches have plenty riding on them. The game on Sky sees Sheffield United taking on Wolverhampton Wanderers in a match between two sides who have their eyes set on European competition next season. The other match sees West Ham United taking on Burnley in a big game at both ends of the spectrum. West Ham need the points to move further away from the drop while Burnley haven’t given up hope of reaching Europe again themselves.

Betting

There is only one bet that interests me over the course of the evening and it comes in the match at the London Stadium where I think Burnley need more respect in their clash with West Ham than the bookmakers are giving them. I get that we get some skewed prices at this time of a season but they generally come in matches where only one side is playing for anything. That is very much not the case with these two teams.

West Ham have had a good week with a win over Chelsea and a draw against Newcastle but both sides defended abysmally against them and I just don’t see Burnley doing that here. The concern for Burnley early doors on the restart was where goals were going to come from and I guess that is still an issue but it was good to see Chris Wood come off the bench at the weekend. That shows us the Clarets haven’t given up on their season and with key players returning I fancy the visitors to avoid defeat in this one.
