The latest week of action in the Icons of Darts event finishes on Saturday as the second pool of players grace their home oches for the third and final time in what has been an excellent few days of action.
The event, which continues to provide us with our darting fix while we wait for the sport to get fully up and running again, has seen some high quality darts and some very competitive groups over the course of the week. It would be nice if that is how we finish up.
The Format
Each day from Monday to Saturday six players will battle it out for a daily title. There are two pools of players, one which plays on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the other which toe the oche on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Each day the six players will play each other once over the best of nine legs with two points for a win. The daily winner is the player with the most points. If players are level on points it is determined on leg difference and then the record between the two. The entire event can be watched on various bookmaker websites, dartshop.tv or the Modus YouTube channel.

Friday Recap
The week finished how it started for those in pool one as Martin Adams won all five of his matches and gave off some insanely good performances in the process on his way to another dominant display. He finished two points ahead of Keane Barry who has another decent day while David Evans was in third with three wins. Jose Justicia won two matches to finish fourth and there was one win to finish his week for Scott Marsh. Diogo Portela finished his week empty handed.
Once again we went in with one bet on Friday and once again we came out with a winner as Keane Barry got the job done against Scott Marsh, coming through 5-2 which meant that he comfortably covered the 1.5 leg handicap we took on him. That means we have had four winning days out of the five and we’ll be hoping to finish the week with another one over the course of Saturday.
Saturday Line Up
This group has been chopping and changing all week but after one of the tightest battles we’ve seen it will be Scott Mitchell who will be looking to defend the title he won on Thursday. Mark Webster was second in that group but he doesn’t appear to be in action on Saturday. It seems that David Evans has replaced him for the day and he’ll probably be the favourite to come out on top. Boris Koltsov might have something to say about that though.
Andy Jenkins was the winner of this group on Tuesday and he is back looking to finish the week off with a win like Martin Adams did in the other pool of players. Keelan Kay continues to offer signs of positivity and he’ll be hoping that continues over the course of Saturday, while there is another chance for Mike Warburton to show his stuff and push for another group title.

Outright Betting
This is another of those days which we’ve had all week actually where the players I was considering backing for the group are out in the early set of matches. That means one of them will probably come out on top because I don’t see the other three handling the pressure of chasing a score, but the advantage that one of them might have had isn’t there which isn’t really ideal it has to be said. That means I’m unlikely to bet the group again this week.
I thought that Andy Jenkins and Scott Mitchell could be good value but they are both out early and while that might bring someone like Boris Koltsov into play, as I’ve said all week there is a trend of players posting a score and winning the group taking place at the minute. That won’t always be the case but I do think it will ring true here. If one of them wins the group then so be it but I’d be guessing which one it would be so I’ll leave it alone.
Match Betting
I’ll take the same match bet that I was successful with on Thursday which is for Andy Jenkins to beat Scott Mitchell. Jenkins has been in excellent form this week and will be looking to finish it strongly. He tends to start his days very well so the fact he takes on Mitchell in his second match of the day should be something of a positive it has to be said. Jenkins has won both their matches this week and Mitchell has averaged over 90 on both occasions so that bodes well for Jenkins.
I’m not sure what it is with Mitchell but he seems to either be very strong or very poor. He usually has a very good B game but it seems to have deserted him at the minute and that is a concern. Winning the group on Thursday might have given him confidence but he lost to Jenkins on the way and like I said he has played well on both matches against him this week and not really got close. I’ll take Jenkins to complete the sweep over Mitchell this week.
