Big Matches

The televised action begins right off the bat once again when the New York Red Bulls take on the New England Revolution in what is a key game in terms of the standings in the Eastern Conference play-offs. The second match on the TV in the UK also comes from the Eastern Conference as DC United look to continue their last gasp effort to make the postseason when they host a Columbus Crew team who will be looking to rediscover their mojo. The last of the televised games comes from California where the Houston Dynamo will look to keep their own play-off hopes alive when they take on Los Angeles FC in a pretty big game.

Best of the Rest

The leaders of the Eastern Conference are in action on Wednesday evening when the Philadelphia Union host Chicago Fire while there is a tasty match between Toronto FC and New York City FC who generally provide fireworks when they oppose each other. Orlando City can near enough secure home advantage in the first round of the play-offs if they can get the better of rivals Atlanta United. Over in the Western Conference Sporting Kansas City can go top of the table when they head to FC Cincinnati but should they slip up then the Portland Timbers will top the pile if they can overcome LA Galaxy. The other big match of the night sees the San Jose Earthquakes taking on Real Salt Lake with a spot in the top eight the reward for whoever wins while the losers will be up against it to get in.

Betting

After a winner on Tuesday evening I’m keen not to go too mad here and undo the hard work but there is one that I can’t avoid at this stage of the season and that comes in the form of Philadelphia Union in their match against Chicago Fire. I’ve mentioned a couple of times recently how the Chicago Fire struggle on their travels and they are still looking for their first win on the road this season, which isn’t good when they travel to the best home side in MLS.

Philadelphia Union are very comfortable in their own surroundings, as highlighted by their emphatic 5-0 win over Toronto FC at the weekend, a result which not only took them to the top of the Eastern Conference but announced them as a firm contender for MLS Cup when the play-offs begin. I think the Union are playing the best football in the league at the minute and the confidence of that victory over a strong Toronto side should come out in droves here. I’m very surprised Union are the price they are because they won’t want to let up and lose the number one seed. Union for me.
