Another week of NFL action begins with a cracking looking encounter on the Thursday Night Football when the Seattle Seahawks host the Arizona Cardinals in a massive match in the NFC West, one which could determine who ends up winning the division.
Whoever wins this match will end the night on top of the division but it might be a bigger match for the Seahawks than the Cardinals as Seattle currently have a losing record in the NFC West clashes which is why Arizona currently head the way.
Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks have been very impressive this term but there has just been a few chinks to their armour in recent times and they go into this match off the back of three defeats in their last four outings, a run which began with an overtime defeat in the reverse fixture between these two. The big problem they have had, and the main reason why they have struggled, has been that their defence has not been up to the mark this term.
To be fair it wasn’t performing brilliantly even when they were winning regularly at the beginning of the season so we can put their recent tough trot down to injuries to their running backs. That has made their offense a little one dimensional and teams have found it easier to contain them as a result. The other thing we should note is they have lost to Arizona, Buffalo and the Rams so it isn’t like they are losing to nobodies.

Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals have been one of the best teams to watch this season and go into this match off the back of one of the best plays of all time to see off the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. That might have papered over one or two cracks but when sides win matches like that they begin to feel they are invincible and gain a lot of confidence from that. They are up against it with the short week here but the confidence of Sunday might make up for that.
In many ways the Cardinals are having a similar problem to the Seahawks in recent times even though they have been winning. They are finding it tough to run the ball, although to be fair Kyler Murray certainly isn’t and it will be interesting to see how often the ball is in his hands in this match. One thing we know about this Cardinals side is that Murray is spoilt for choice for receiving options and he’ll look to utilise them all here.
Betting
I don’t think it will come as a surprise to anyone that I’m expecting to see a high scoring match here. You have to go back more than five matches for the last time that the Arizona Cardinals didn’t score 30 points but they quite often concede that amount as well. Seattle Seahawks matches tend to follow a similar path too so I’m a little surprised that these offensive powerhouses have a points line of just 56.5 to clear.
When these two met on the Sunday Night Football a couple of weeks ago it ended 37-34 to the Arizona Cardinals so these two have previous when it comes to a shootout and it is hard to think that this one will be any different, particularly when you think of the ability both quarterbacks have to make big plays either through the air or with their feet. Add in that neither defence are pulling up trees at the minute and I think we have a prime candidate for an over here.
