IPL 2021 – Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Tips and Betting Preview

The Indian Premier League season continues on Wednesday when the Delhi Capitals look to move back to the top of the IPL 2021 table when they take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the latest clash in Dubai.

The Capitals came into the resumption on top of the table but have been knocked off that spot by the Chennai Super Kings. The Sunrisers had a wretched first part of the season and almost need snookers to be around for the postseason.

Delhi Capitals

The Delhi Capitals had a good season in the books to build on for this term and they are doing that campaign justice here. Already you get the feeling that they are certain to be around when the play-offs take place and when they are the experience of going so close last year will be feelings they use to ensure they don’t fail again. There is certainly feeling that they are stronger this season and the first part of the campaign would highlight that.

They are going to be stronger for this restart as well because the man who skippered them to the final last season, Shreyas Iyer, who was injured for the whole of the first stage of this campaign, is fit for the remainder of the competition. He will strengthen the batting accordingly but the strength of this Delhi side comes in the bowling which can win with their seamers but it can also come good in the spin department as well. They are extremely well balanced.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Balance is something the Sunrisers Hyderabad have lacked for a while but never before has it shown up like it has done in the first stage of this term. When a side is unbalanced the one thing it can’t afford is for key players to be out of form and that is exactly what happened to the Sunrisers. Dave Warner was in no form at all and in the end he ended up being dropped as Hyderabad searched for the right combination.

The fact that Jonny Bairstow hasn’t come back for the remainder of the season means that Warner will be back in the side here, but he hasn’t played for a while and could be anything in terms of form. Historically when the Sunrisers have been strong it has been their bowlers that have done the damage. They are not as strong with the ball now as they have been in the past but having T Natarajan fit again will be helpful. If Rashid Khan is at his best it would give the Sunrisers a chance.

Key Men

Rishabh Pant was a surprise call to keep the captaincy now that Shreyas Iyer is back but it shows what the Delhi Capitals backroom staff think of him. He was dreadful in England recently but has the chance to reassert himself here.

Rashid Khan is always a key player for whichever team he plays for. That was highlighted with his absence showing up a glaring hole in the Sussex team in the Vitality Blast finals day at the weekend. His four overs are nearly always pinpoint but he is becoming equally important down the order with the bat.

Betting

There are varying sixes lines for this match but the one which catches my eye the most is the Bet365 offering of 11.5 because I think that is a little too high. Neither of these teams are what you would call particularly big hitting teams with their top orders more based around stroke players and although there is one or two hitters down the order they are either out of nick if they have been playing in the case of Rishabh Pant, or unlikely to see much time at the crease in the form of Shimron Heymyer.

The first meeting between these two sides was in Chennai which is a fairly small ground where both sides scored 159 in their 20 overs. There were just the eight sixes on that occasion and I’m not convinced we get a whole lot more on a much bigger ground here in Dubai. This is the third match in four days on this ground so the square will already be drying out in what has been extremely hot days so far in the event. I don’t think batting will be easy here, there aren’t many power hitters on show and both bowling attacks are decent. I like the under here.
