The final one day match of the domestic season takes place at Trent Bridge on Saturday when Kent take on Lancashire in the Royal London One Day Cup final which sees two of the better limited overs teams in the country going at it.
Both these sides had to come through two knockout matches to make their way through to this final and although that was three weeks ago they will both be looking to recreate the form that got them here and crown their season with silverware.
Where to watch
The majority of this competition took place at the same time as The Hundred but that isn’t the case with the final so the match will be shown live and in full on the Sky Sports Cricket channel. The build-up begins at 10.30am with the first ball at 11am.
Kent
The 2021 Vitality Blast champions Kent will be looking to add the 50 over competition to their trophy cabinet in this final and if they play like they did towards the end of the first two stages of the competition then they would look to have every chance in this final. Kent have effectively played three knockout matches to make it to this stage because they had to win their final group game to make the knockout stage and have won a quarter final and a semi-final since then.
In two of those three matches Kent have come through nervy run chases so if this gets tight there shouldn’t be any issues with whether they can hold their nerve or not. They do have a few youngsters in the side though as they have already announced they are going down the route of giving those who got them to this final an outing in it to try and land the title rather than bringing the big guns back who were unavailable during The Hundred.
Lancashire
In the early stages of the group phase it had looked like Lancashire would be able to bypass the quarter final and go straight to the semi-final. They stuttered a little towards the end of that stage of the competition though and that combined with the excellent form of Hampshire meant they had to go through the two knockout win route to the final. The first of those saw them chase down more than 300 against Nottinghamshire while the second saw them defend a par total away to Sussex.
The concern for Lancashire in this final is that they are leaking a large number of runs and they have resisted the temptation to bring their players who missed the earlier stages of the event because The Hundred back into the side so you wouldn’t think anything is going to change in that regard. What might fuel the Red Rose in this match is that they have already lost in one white ball final this season and will be motivated to ensure lightning doesn’t strike twice for the Lightning.

Team News
Kent could have the likes of Sam Billings, Daniel Bell-Drummond, Zak Crawley and Matt Milnes available to them for this final but they are going from the squad which got them here. Alex Blake has recovered from a finger injury to be in the squad while Darren Stevens plays his final match for Kent.
Lancashire could also bring the likes of Tom Hartley, Matt Parkinson and Richard Gleeson back for this final but they are rewarding those who got them to this stage too. Dane Vilas is in the squad but Keaton Jennings keeps the captaincy.
Betting
This should be a really good final but the problem with betting on it is neither bowling attack really pull up any trees and we know that Trent Bridge can be a bugger of a ground to defend so I don’t really want to be betting on a team to win the match and then watching on as they fail to keep tabs on the chasing side. The good thing is that the forecast is fine for the match so we can get stuck into the side markets and one jumps out at me.
That comes in the form of over 549.5 runs, a line which was covered when these two met in the final group match in Canterbury when nearly 600 runs were scored. I think it is fair to say that both batting units are better placed than the bowling attacks here and although there are still a number of absentees from them we still have the likes of Ben Compton, Joe Denly, Ollie Robinson, Alex Blake, Darren Stevens, Keaton Jennings, Luke Wells, Josh Bohannon, Steven Croft and Dane Vilas going for us. Both teams scored 300 in their semi-final wins, more than 290 each in their group meeting and between them have scored 300 or more seven times in the tournament. Runs look guaranteed in this final.
