The Premier League action prior to the international break concludes on Sunday afternoon when the scheduled four matches have been reduced to two after the logistics of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II have impacted the fixture list.
Despite us only having two matches on the card on Sunday the good news is that they are both on TV for us in the UK to enjoy on what should be an entertaining and competitive afternoon for the four teams involved.
Brentford vs Arsenal (12.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Sports Premier League)
The opening match of the afternoon sees another of the London derbies for the season taking place when the two teams who opened up the previous campaign battle it out when Brentford take on the leaders heading into the weekend in Arsenal.
Arsenal have already seen Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur overtake them this weekend but they have the chance to move back to the top with a win here ahead of the international break and the North London Derby which brings them out of the pause in Premier League action. Standing in their way is a team who bullied them on the opening week of last season and will be looking to repeat that this term. Brentford have made a perfectly acceptable start to what had makings of a difficult campaign for the Bees with it being their second in the Premier League. Their only defeat came in the dying minutes away to Fulham and they have home wins over Manchester United and Leeds United as well as a dominant draw with Everton so this isn’t going to be an easy assignment for the Gunners. While Arsenal were top going into the weekend their only really tricky match saw them come up short at Old Trafford and that is a bit of a concern. The visitors are a little short to me here. It might be that they turn out to be the real deal but they need to win a game of this type before I believe in them. The hosts get a 0.75 goal start on the Asian lines here and that just looks too big.

Everton vs West Ham United (14.15 – Sky Main Event & Sky Sports Premier League)
The second match of the afternoon sees the two teams either side of the relegation line at the start of play battling it out when Everton welcome West Ham United to Goodison Park in a match both teams will be eager to win to boost morale heading into the international break.
These two teams have been very slow out of the blocks this season. Everton still haven’t won a game but have drawn their last four, including holding Liverpool last time out. They have a few injuries to deal with as ever though. West Ham have only won one match this season and that was against an average Aston Villa so they haven’t been much more convincing, although they did pick up a win in Europe on Thursday night, but there was certainly nothing convincing about their defensive display in that match. These two are too inconsistent for me to bet on this one.
