India vs Australia – 3rd T20 Tips and Betting Preview

The T20 series between India and Australia will come to a close on Sunday when the two teams head to Hyderabad for what is the deciding match after the two sides won one of the opening two matches each.

That will give the match a competitive feel even though the overriding priority for both sides is to continue their preparation for a T20 World Cup which is getting ever closer. We’re all set up for a good finale to the series.

India

We probably couldn’t find out too much about the Indian players in the second match of the series after the wet outfield reduced the game to just eight overs but what we could determine was that Rohit Sharma is hitting the ball very nicely. That is important because for the last few weeks India have been stumbling at the top of the order and searching for a combination which could serve them well in Australia next month.

We also saw that one or two bowlers can be there to be hit if a set batter is there at the end of the innings. I don’t think India will be able to fix that in this match because their options are fairly limited but it is certainly something they will be out to rectify when they take on South Africa next week. The positive for India is that their middle order looks in good order and if they can get off to a decent start they could really accelerate that.

Australia

We saw in the opening match that Australia are in decent touch in the 20 over game and although they lost the second game of the series I don’t think they are going to be too worried about losing an eight over slap and tickle in a match where they lost the toss. There were certainly positives to come out of that match though, not least the form of Matthew Wade and Adam Zampa in what will be key roles in the big tournament next month.

One area where a concern is starting to form for Australia is at the death although when the T20 World Cup comes around they might well have the services of the likes of Mitchell Starc to call upon. Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood have played a lot of cricket recently and haven’t really shown that they are the answer so that is something the world champions will be looking at here. Everything else looks in good order though.

Team News

India brought in the extra batter for the eight over game but didn’t need Rishabh Pant so he is likely to sit this one out with the extra bowling option coming in, whether that is R Ashwin or Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Australia will be monitoring the fitness of Nathan Ellis after he missed the defeat on Friday. They are likely to bring Josh Inglis back into the team to balance the side out how they usually have it. Sean Abbott might be the one to make way.

Betting

Boundaries have been a feature of this series and I’m not expecting anything different here in Hyderabad. Everything I see and read about the wicket suggests it is going to be a belter for batting and in truth I wouldn’t expect any different when you consider the IPL hasn’t been to this part of the world for the past two seasons and it has been three years since an international game was held here. Entertainment will be the name of the game for a packed house I suspect.

The boundaries line for this match is 40.5 and I think we saw in the opening game, and to an extent at the back end of the second one that the bat is very much dominating the ball in this series and assuming the wicket is as good as everyone says it is then the bowlers aren’t going to get too much success here. When you add in the dew factor which is only going to make bowling tougher than I expect those 40.5 boundaries to come along over the course of this one.
