We have a double header of action in The Hundred on Wednesday with the first of the two matches coming from Trent Bridge where two unbeaten sides meet, as the Trent Rockets continue their title defence against the Northern Superchargers.
These teams are packed with star talent and looked good in the match that they have been able to complete around the bad weather and they will be looking to double down on that and assume the control of the table heading towards the halfway mark.

The match will be shown live and in full on the Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Cricket channels with the build-up to this one beginning at 2.30pm ahead of a 3pm start.
Trent Rockets
We have only seen the Trent Rockets on the park once in this competition which was in the opening match of it when they edged out the Southern Brave. I think it is fair to say that they weren’t at their best in that match but at the same time you probably wouldn’t have expected them to be when you consider that some of their players had been in America and others were involved in the Test match. They have had eight days since that outing so should be more up to speed.
The one thing we do know about the Rockets is that they are a nicely balanced side with no shortage of quality. The XI they fielded in that win over the Brave was strong enough even though there was no Joe Root or John Turner who have been in good form leading into the tournament. The Rockets will hope that their top order deliver the goods a little better in this match but to have won without contributions from them will have boded well.
Northern Superchargers
I would imagine that the Northern Superchargers were cursing the rain in their opening match of the competition as they had the Birmingham Phoenix exactly where they wanted them when the deluge arrived. To be fair to them, they certainly didn’t dwell on that and absolutely battered the Southern Brave in their next match and beat them by such a margin that with all these weather affected games likely to lead to net run rate being important, they are in a wonderful position in that regard.
The Superchargers are very much able to live up to their name with the bat where they have put a very strong unit together. Their top six looks daunting and they were able to have the luxury of leaving Adam Lyth out in the last game. Generally when you put an elite batting unit together something has to give with the ball but in Adil Rashid, Wayne Parnell and Reece Topley they have a trio of players not just experienced in international cricket but also in franchise action.

Key Players
Daniel Sams bowled wonderfully for the Trent Rockets under serious pressure in the opening match of the tournament and he will need to bowl well for the champions here too. If he can get a few lusty blows away with the bat that will help too.
Harry Brook showed all of his class with a brilliant unbeaten 63 from just 27 balls in the win over the Southern Brave and if he can get himself in and going then Trent Bridge is nowhere near big enough to contain him.
Betting
This feels like it will be a high scoring match. I think the Northern Superchargers have set their stall out to come out with an everything must go attitude and Trent Bridge is very much a ground where the ball can do a fair bit of travelling. The Superchargers have loaded up their batting and while they have one or two bowlers who can deliver the goods, it is very much the weakest part of their game which isn’t good when they are about to face a top drawer Trent Rockets side.
This is a day game so the conditions should remain the same throughout the day and with the personnel we have on show here with the bat it is hard to see how this isn’t a high scoring match. There were 30 boundaries in the only previous match on this ground when the team batting first were 25-3 and 54-5 and the team batting second were 51-3 and 73-5. I’m expecting the runs to flow a lot more here so over 36.5 boundaries feels like it has a lot of mileage to me.
