MLS 2024 – Sunday 21st April Matches Tips and Betting Preview

A really entertaining week of action in the MLS concludes with a double header of action on Sunday night when four teams look for points which will enhance their positions in the two tables which are beginning to take some shape.

As was the case on Saturday, both matches will be able to be watched live on Apple TV for those who subscribe to that service. If you don’t then you’ll need to head to the bookmaker live streams to keep up with the action.

Charlotte FC vs Minnesota United (23.00)

Two sides hovering around mid-table in their respective Conferences open up the action in Carolina when Charlotte FC look to continue to build under Dean Smith when they host a Minnesota United outfit who themselves are under a new coach.

Eric Ramsay is still in the early stages in charge of Minnesota and he is still trying to install his style on the side. There are some good players in the Minnesota squad and you would imagine when things settle down and they find their touch they could be competitive in the Western Conference, although as ever with Minny, the Emmanuel Reynoso saga is threatening to impact them. Charlotte look a much better side under Smith this term and are unbeaten at home so far this season. Minnesota have a couple of wins on the road this season though so this feels like a match both will feel that they can win. I’m edging towards the home side but they are probably a little on the skinny side to me so I’ll leave this one alone.

LA Galaxy vs San Jose Earthquakes (01.15)

The last match of the weekend is the latest Cali-Clasico as the Western Conference leaders heading into the round of matches in LA Galaxy welcome their Californian rivals San Jose Earthquakes for what is usually a competitive affair.

Galaxy have been a much better side this term than in the last couple and they have a front four that is going to create carnage throughout the MLS this season. They will be licking their lips against a defence which has conceded the most goals in MLS this term even allowing for all but three of the teams having already played this weekend. The Earthquakes have conceded 20 goals in eight matches including 10 in four away from home and now they go to a Galaxy side who are the top scorers in the league outside of Inter Miami, who have played a couple of matches more. Galaxy aren’t watertight themselves though. They have conceded 12 in eight so there should be goals in this one. This is a fixture which traditionally delivers goals with four or more of them in five of the last six meetings with the other one having three goals. That makes me think that over 3.25 goals is the bet here.
