NFL 2024 – Week 9 Sunday Early Games Tips and Betting Preview

The Week 9 action in the NFL 2024 season continues on Sunday when the two slates of early games take place on a day where we go beyond the halfway point of the campaign for some teams and get to the edge of it for others.

Although some teams are on a bye this week we still have the usual schedule on a Sunday which means that there are a couple of TV games for us to enjoy while RedZone will have the scoring play coverage. Some bookmakers will show the non-live games.

1pm Kick Offs (6pm UK time)

The TV game in the UK on Sunday sees two sides with 5-3 records for their season meeting in what feels like a big game for both with runaway leaders in their division needing to be pulled back. The winner will at least be on course for a wildcard spot while the losers will have some work to do in that regard. Three of the other seven matches come in divisional battles with the key one probably the one in the NFC East where the Washington Commanders will look to back up their incredible late win over Chicago last week when they head to the New York Giants.

The other two divisional games have the Buffalo Bills looking to continue their cruise towards the AFC East title when they host Miami Dolphins while the Carolina Panthers take on the New Orleans Saints in the other. Elsewhere, two poor sides meet when the Tennessee Titans take on the New England Patriots while the Atlanta Falcons go up against an in and out Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns host the Las Angeles Chargers and the Cincinnati Bengals will play host to the Las Vegas Raiders.

4.05/4.25pm Kick Offs (9.05/9.25pm UK time)

There are four matches in the later part of the day where we head to the NFC North for a huge clash for the TV game when the Green Bay Packers look to keep tabs on the leaders of the division. Detroit Lions are those pacesetters and a win in Green Bay would see then take a massive step towards retaining the division title. There is another divisional clash in these later games too as the Seattle Seahawks look to keep out in front in the NFC West when they host the Los Angeles Rams.

The other two matches don’t carry quite as much significance in the overall scheme of things although the Philadelphia Eagles are chasing the NFC East title and are probably going to need to win their home game against a weak looking Jacksonville Jaguars side if they are going to push for that. The other match sees the Chicago Bears looking to bounce back from that horrendous finish last week when they head to the desert to take on the Arizona Cardinals.

Betting

On the face of it the way that the Washington Commanders won the game against the Chicago Bears last week was extremely fortunate but on the other hand wins like that from an incredible situation will give a team a lot of belief and I think the Commanders can build on that victory when they head to the New York Giants who just can’t seem to put the ball in the end zone at the minute. Washington have already beaten the Giants this season and they have got better since then and the Giants look like they have faded.

It will help that the Giants have Malik Nabers back but the Washington defence has started to come to the party. Going the other way the Commanders should feed on this New York defence. Pittsburgh did that last week and I think man for man the Washington offense has much more potential in it than the Steelers one. Washington have won six of their last seven matches and there is no shame in losing to Baltimore in the other. The Giants have only scored more than 21 points once all season and if they don’t get to that number or better it here I expect them to lose this with a bit in hand.
