The T20 series between Bangladesh and Australia continues on Friday when the two sides battle it out in the third match in Dhaka where the home side will be looking to secure the series at the first time of asking.
After winning the opening two matches a win here will give Bangladesh the series so Australia have to win this match to keep the series alive, although realistically these last three matches are just about formulating a plan for the World T20 for Australia.
Bangladesh
The home side will be absolutely delighted with their efforts in the two matches so far. So much will be giving them confidence going into this third match. The main one will be that their bowling attack has been all over Australia in this series so far and you don’t expect that to change with the pitches only likely to play more into their hands over the remaining three matches. The other thing which will give them confidence is that they are winning these matches without three key batsmen.
If you wanted to be harsh you could argue that those batters who are playing in this series can get a little bit more out of their batting performances but to be fair they are standing up to a powerful Australian bowling attack who often intimidate inexperienced players so they deserve credit for that. The good thing for the Tigers is that after two matches they don’t need to do anything different to give themselves a real chance in this third one.
Australia
It is becoming a real concern for Australia now in terms of their batting form in these sluggish conditions. These are almost certainly the conditions they are going to face in the UAE when the World T20 comes along but in the Caribbean and now here their batsmen have looked all at sea. There aren’t going to be many chances after these three matches to come up with a plan in these conditions so you sense these remaining games mean more than just a T20 series to Australia.
They can rightly argue that they have some big batsmen to come back into the squad for the World T20 but their struggles in these conditions is systemic rather than just the players who are out in the middle. If there is an area of positivity for the Australians then it is that their bowling has been able to adjust to conditions and has been hard to score off so if their batsman can find a way to deliver the goods there is no reason why they can’t win.

Team News
Bangladesh have no reason to change anything after a couple of convincing performances so far in the series. I daresay they will want to give everyone in the squad a game but they might look to get the series won before they do that.
Australia are surely going to have to consider some changes. Josh Philippe has looked out of his depth both here and in the Caribbean before it so Ben McDermott might come back in. Mitchell Starc is expected to be fit but with games in successive days he might be rested for this one.
Betting
Bangladesh have eased to victory in both the matches so far and I’m not really seeing a reason why that is likely to change in this match. The pitches are only going to turn more and get tougher to play on and that is only going to suit the home side more than the visitors. If the dismal Australia batting over these two matches and the five in the West Indies were interspersed with some positive efforts then maybe Bangladesh wouldn’t look so attractive here.
That isn’t the case though. It is pretty clear that Australia have issues getting the job done with the bat in these conditions so the fact that we can get 13/8 on Bangladesh to win this match is quite a surprise. I don’t actually think we’ve seen the very best of Bangladesh yet and although they have done enough to win both the matches, if more comes from them then they should ease to victory here. They should be a lot shorter than they are so I’ll take Bangladesh in this one.
