The Premier League weekend concludes at the Liberty Stadium on Monday night when Swansea host Stoke in an even looking battle on paper.
These two sides have become two of the most technical in the division so this should be a nice match on the eye with some decent attacking football on show which is perfect for a Monday night contest.
Both sides begin this match in the bottom half of the table and are just starting to go in different directions both in form and in paths in the league ladder. Whoever wins this will move onto the fringes of the top 10 so there is a decent incentive for both teams.
Swansea go into the match off the back of five games without a win in all competitions and they will be looking to end that run here. The international break definitely came at a good time for them and now we will see if they put it to good use.
Andre Ayew missed Ghana’s game last week but he is expected to have recovered from injury in time to play in this match. Jonjo Shelvey is in a similar position while Kyle Naughton is back having missed the last match to attend the birth of his child.
Stoke took an awful long time to burst into life this season but they are now unbeaten in their last four matches in all competitions and will be eyeing up another three points here.
Mark Hughes’ men will be without Mame Biram Diouf who is away at home after the death of his mother and Shay Given is out with injury although Jack Butland was going to be between the sticks anyway. Marc Wilson is expected to return having missed a couple of matches through injury.
Both these sides have good attacking options and while the stereotype of the two would be for a tight low scoring game I fancy it could be the opposite of that. Swansea have only kept one clean sheet in their last six in all competitions so the chances are they are going to have to score twice to win this.
They have the personnel to do that but Stoke also have the players to score goals. Stoke have scored twice in two of their last three Premier League matches so goals are in their side so I am definitely seeing goals in this match and I fancy both sides to find the net. At even money that looks a great bet.
We’ve seen Monday night matches be quite entertaining this season with plenty of goals. Even West Brom managed a couple against Everton a couple of weeks ago and I have a thing for Monday night games being shootouts.
Were this to be one of them, and if both score early on it so easily could, then there could be some cash to be made in the correct score market. We’ve had a lot of 2-2 draws this season and a couple of 2-0 leads lost to sides winning 3-2 so I’m happy enough to chance those three scorelines in the hope we get a real classic.
