The second part of the Premier League weekend comes along on Sunday with the final four matches in this set of fixtures and in amongst them there are a couple of good looking games.
Three out of the four matches are on television in a potentially excellent afternoon of football in England’s top flight.
It all begins at the Lane as Tottenham host Chelsea in a match which has a totally different dynamic than usual. From there the action moves across London to Upton Park as West Ham host West Brom. The final TV game comes from Carrow Road as Norwich welcome Arsenal while away from the cameras Liverpool play Swansea.
Chelsea have had the upper hand over Spurs for a long while but going into this match it is probably Spurs who most people are looking at to pick up the baton and run with it. Spurs are still unbeaten since the opening day of the season in the league and they looked really good in dismantling West Ham last weekend.
We all know Chelsea have had their issues but the signs are that they might just be turning things around. They beat a game Norwich in the league last week and then got a morale boosting win in Israel in midweek but this is the real acid test for their revival.
Spurs are scoring goals and will threaten a shaky looking defence of Chelsea but they are keeping things quite tight too. I fancy this to be a high scoring game but with home advantage and a squad brimming with confidence I just feel this could be the time Spurs get the better of Chelsea again.
West Ham go into their match against West Brom needing a win. They are in danger of wasting their excellent start to the season so a win here would just get everything back on track. It would also silence the detractors that claim they are a one man team in the absence of Dimitri Payet.
West Brom will be full of confidence after a win over Arsenal but we all know how Tony Pulis will set his side up. They’ll be hard to break down and look to hit West Ham on the break and that’s how West Ham set up too so there is a major chance these two could cancel each other out and that puts me off getting involved in this one.
Arsenal are big favourites to win at Norwich and I can see why but Norwich have taken on Man City and Chelsea in recent weeks and stayed close so I’m reluctant to take a big handicap on Arsenal. There will be a time soon where it clicks for the Gunners and the likes of Ozil, Sanchez and Ramsey run rings around one of these lesser sides but Norwich deserve a little bit of respect and I’m going to give them it.
One side who really need a win are Swansea but I’m not sure they are going to get it. Liverpool were beaten by Crystal Palace prior to the international break but Jurgen Klopp then had two weeks to get his formulas and methods across and since then they have walloped Man City and won in Europe and looked good in doing it.
We’re starting to see Liverpool be more threatening in front of goal now with the likes of Coutinho and Firmino pulling the strings and I get the feeling the players are enjoying being allowed to be expansive.
Enjoyment is something I’m not seeing much of from Swansea at the minute. You only have to look at them play to know they are under pressure and if Liverpool come out early and get a goal this could be a match they dominate. Swansea’s struggles are there for all to see. Their only win in their last six was against Villa which seems to be par for the course at the minute so I really like Liverpool in this one.
