It was yet another hugely dramatic day in the Premier League on Saturday and the final two matches of this set of games will look to emulate that when Crystal Palace take on Liverpool and Man Utd head to West Brom on Sunday.
After a day of focusing on the top and the bottom of the table on Saturday it is all about the race for fourth place on Sunday. In fairness Liverpool have no chance of reaching fourth or doing anything at all in the Premier League so I wonder if Jurgen Klopp will keep his big players for midweek against Man Utd.
Crystal Palace finally ended their losing slump in midweek with a draw at Sunderland but they will be desperate for a win soon to really get back on the right track. They have nothing to lose here and can give this one a decent go.
Liverpool don’t have the best of records at Selhurst Park. This is famously where their title tilt of a couple of years ago started to go wrong and I just sense whenever I watch them here they are not comfortable. I’ve liked Palace this season but I can’t back them in their current form so I’ll sit Sunday’s opener out.
I’m going to get involved in the second match of the day though. When West Brom and Man Utd line up on the same football pitch you would be forgiven for thinking this will naturally be a low scoring game but I’m not so sure it will.
Absolutely none of their Premier League meetings at The Hawthorns have seen less than three goals in them which is a decent starting point to consider over 2.25 goals from.
To add to that, although West Brom are famed for keeping it tight they’re not actually doing a very good job of it, especially at home. The Baggies have only kept one clean sheet in their last four matches on home soil and that came against Aston Villa which is hardly a ringing endorsement.
Man Utd are quite similar. On their travels they have only kept one clean sheet in their last five matches. That came at Anfield but Liverpool were strangely gun shy on that day so I’m not sure we can read too much into that.
Both sides have been forced to youngsters with flair to salvage their seasons and that has actually resulted in both finding the net a lot more and at odds against with recent stats on our side I’m going to chance over 2.25 goals here.
