There is just the one match in the Premier League on Sunday but it promises to be a feisty encounter as Tottenham host West Ham in a London derby at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham have quietly gone about their business this season but they have put themselves in a great position to get big things out of their season with an unbeaten run that stretches back to the second game of the campaign.
West Ham haven’t had the consistency that Spurs have had but they’ve certainly had some appealing results. Already this season they have won at Anfield, at the Etihad and at the Emirates and they’ve beaten Chelsea at home too so this is a side who now turn up in full for the big matches.
We’ve seen with England this week the quality that Spurs have in their ranks and they’re suddenly not all about Harry Kane. Deli Alli is making a name for himself while Heung-Min Son was making a big impression prior to his injury. The Korean returns here, possibly in place of the suspended Erik Lamela.
West Ham have been a joy to watch at times this season. In Dimitri Payet they have had arguably the player of the season so far but sadly for all Hammers fans he has been ruled out for three months with injury so someone in their midfield is going to have to step up and be counted.
This should be a really good game. Both sides should have plenty of confidence and I’m sure both will believe they can win. West Ham will miss Payet, that goes without saying, but they might miss him more at home than away where their pace on the counter attack is their biggest weapon. In Moses and Antonio they still have that.
I think given the way both teams are playing right now that both have the confidence to find the back of the net. Although Spurs are going ok you have to go back six games in all competitions for their last clean sheet while West Ham haven’t kept one in their last six either so all the indications are that both sides will score.
Along with that I can’t ignore the 11/2 quotes on the Hammers here. That is far too big for a side who’ve won where they’ve won this season. To win at all three big grounds shows none of them were flukes so even without Payet they don’t deserve to be this price. They warrant a small punt.
