Big Bash League 2018-19 – Melbourne Stars vs Brisbane Heat Betting Preview

The Big Bash League has had a two day break and now it is full steam ahead towards the conclusion of the tournament. Before we get to the end we need to determine the four sides who will battle it out in the final and when Melbourne Stars take on Brisbane Heat on Sunday, the picture could come a little clearer.

Both teams begin the night outside of the playoff spots so losing is not really a workable option for either of them if they want to keep control of their own destiny so as ever we should be looking at a pretty competitive match here.

Melbourne Stars

After their wobble when their international players were unavailable, the Melbourne Stars have successive wins and six victories in a row when they have been at full strength so they would be high on confidence coming into this match. They have won collectively and with individual performances and that is never a bad combination.

The big thing for the Stars is how their batting delivers the goods when everyone is around. They have three top level batsmen in their side and a host of players who can provide good support to them. That has brought the best out of their bowlers and as a complete side they look to have many of the fundamentals covered.

Brisbane Heat

There has been far too much either brilliant or pathetic about the Brisbane Heat so far this season and they are going to need to find some consistent brilliance if they are to make the move they need in order to be around for the semi-finals and beyond. That starts with their batting which was found out massively in their last match and was on course to struggle in the one before that prior to the lights going out.

The other thing that is going to need to happen is they are going to need their bowlers to stand up and be counted. The doors to the last chance saloon are getting unlocked for the Heat so their senior men have to come and make the difference. They do have a hugely powerful batting line up, which if it delivers can destroy any side in the competition. Their bowling does leave a lot to be desired though it must be said.

Team News

Melbourne Stars have made one change to their squad with Dan Worrall returning from injury to take his place in the party for the first time this season. Lance Morris is the man to make way. Marcus Stoinis can play despite his call up for the second Test.

Brisbane Heat have brought Matthew Renshaw back into their squad for this match with Sam Heazlett being the man to depart for him. Marnus Labaschagne is still away with Australia so misses out here.

Betting

I’m with the Melbourne Stars here. I’ve been with them throughout the competition and I haven’t seen any reason why I should be changing that now. They are at full strength and they have a wonderful record when that is the case and I fancy they will extend that with another complete performance here.

Brisbane Heat rely far too much on two batsmen for my liking and the Stars have the necessary variety in their bowling attack to keep them quiet before getting to work themselves. I don’t see the Heat attack containing this Melbourne batting line up either. Melbourne are the better team of the two here and that can play out on the field with them picking up the result.
