The second half of the double header from the Caribbean Premier League on Saturday night comes from Trinidad as the Trinbago Knight Riders look to build on their win from Friday night when they host the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Trinbago already only have two home matches left in the tournament this season so they will be eager to make the most of them while Guyana have a free shot at a second road win in the space of a few days.
Trinbago Knight Riders
The defending champions have a win and a defeat to their name in the tournament so far but they looked like they were heading towards a second successive loss when they were reduced to 20-4 deep in the fifth over by the Barbados Tridents on Friday night. Hashim Amla and Dwayne Bravo then showed their strength in depth to post a fantastic total which they managed to defend.
The last 35 overs of that match on Friday night kind of shows what Trinbago matches are all about for them. If they can put up anything like a reasonable score then they have the bowling attack to defend most things although I do actually think they will be a better side when they are chasing.
Guyana Amazon Warriors
Not many gave the Amazon Warriors much of a chance against St Kitts in their opening match and I have to confess I was among the many who wrote them off but they performed well with the ball and did just enough with the bat to seal a famous victory and start their season on a high.
If Guyana are going to deliver a strong season then they are going to need their middle order at some point because they can’t just rely on Guptill and Smith up top. The middle order just about got them home in their first match but they should have been more convincing after the start the Smith assault gave them.
Betting
I’ve mentioned a lot in other competitions how difficult it is to back up a performance less than 24hrs after the last one and that is the issue that the Trinbago Knight Riders have to deal with here. They played on Friday night and then will play here and after the emotional highs and lows it is never easy to get back up straight away.
Guyana Amazon Warriors have no such problems. They will have settled back down comfortably by now and should be set for another big performance. There were a number of players with more to give from their opening match which will be a reason for confidence and I think they might be a bit of value to win here.
Man for man the Warriors are nowhere near as strong as the Knight Riders but with fatigue potentially playing a significant part here Guyana should be much more competitive than the odds would suggest.
