Preview

There is no doubt which is the big match of the seven taking place on Tuesday night. That sees the MLS Cup winners hosting the defending champions when Columbus Crew welcome Inter Miami to Lower.com Field. The other American team with silverware last season were FC Cincinnati and they host Philadelphia Union at TQL Stadium. Liga MX sides are involved in the other two earlier kick offs with Cruz Azul hosting Mazatlan and Tigres taking on New York City FC in those games.

We head to the west for the remainder of the evening with the Colorado Rapids looking to continue their good MLS campaign with a spot in the quarter finals of this competition before Liga MX champions Club America host St Louis City SC in a match which will have plenty of appeal about it. The other match sees two of the best teams in California battling it out when Los Angeles FC look to make another quarter final when they host the San Jose Earthquakes.

Betting

I like a couple of bets over the course of the night. We haven’t seen the best of Cruz Azul in this competition yet but you would imagine they will spark into life at some point as there is too much talent at their disposal not to. It could well happen here too against a Mazatlan who they have already beaten in Liga MX this term and you would imagine the class of Cruz Azul will see their improvement come out here. Mazatlan have done well to make it to this stage of the tournament but they haven’t really beaten anyone you wouldn’t have expected them to. I expect the quality that Cruz Azul have to come out here against a limited Mexican opposition and I’ll take them to cover a -1 Asian line.

The other bet I like is for over three goals in the clash between Toluca and Colorado Rapids. Rapids matches this season have been pretty high scoring, as they often tend to be, and I don’t see anything different here against a team who have good individual quality and who have already scored seven goals in the tournament. Rapids put three past Juarez in the last round having conceded four against the Portland Timbers in their competition opener. Neither of these sides have kept a clean sheet in the event to date and with the Moise Bombito transfer looking like it is going through Colorado will have to do without their best centre-back from here on in. This one just screams goals at me.
