Another group concludes in the Copa America on Sunday when Group B plays its final two matches. After Brazil came to the party on Saturday evening, it is the turn of their big rivals Argentina to do likewise here.
Argentina know they have to beat Qatar in order to progress to the knockout stages while defeat may well put them out of the tournament. Colombia have already won the group but have one more date before their quarter final.
Colombia vs Paraguay
This match is much bigger for Paraguay than it is for Colombia as Carlos Queiroz’s men know that win, lose or draw here they are the winners of the group and will face either Uruguay or Japan in the quarter final. Paraguay go into this match knowing a win will see them through to face Venezuela in the last eight. Anything else and they are at the mercy of others.
Paraguay have offered a lot more in this tournament than I expected them to do and were a missed penalty kick away from securing their place in the last eight but with Colombia expected to give their squad a run out here, the Paraguayans are certainly not done with yet. There is certainly a case to be made for Paraguay in this match but Colombia’s bench has plenty of class on it. I can’t be backing a side who don’t need to win though so this is an easy one to sit out.

Qatar vs Argentina
The big match of the night is the one between Qatar and Argentina where the winners will progress to the knockout stages while those who don’t win will be out of the tournament unless results go their way so this is pretty big it has to be said.
Argentina haven’t turned up in the tournament to date and the last orders at the last chance saloon is beginning to ring on them. While Qatar looks their easiest match up on paper, they haven’t been outclassed in this tournament and the Asians basically have a free hit at an attempt to make the quarter finals here. I say that because they have already achieved their main aim this term of winning the Asia Cup, anything in this would be a bonus.
Given the state of the match situation I’ve got to believe we are going to see goals in this one. Whoever concedes the first goal is going to have to open up and take some risks because even a draw is no use to them. That will either allow them to score themselves or leave them exposed at the other end. That makes me think that over 2.75 goals is the way forward in this contest.
