The Caribbean Premier League rolls into mainland America for the first time on Saturday night when the Jamaica Tallawahs play the first of three home matches in Florida. They host the Guyana Amazon Warriors in what is a big game to kick off the American leg of the season.
The Tallawahs are unbeaten this season and will storm further clear of the rest if they can find a victory here. Guyana have not done too badly themselves with two wins from their opening three matches and a win here will have them nicely placed.
Jamaica Tallawahs
The ‘home’ side have a perfect record over this campaign. They have played three and won all three. In fairness they haven’t always been in control of their matches but they have got the job done and I always say that you can never knock a side for that. They have given up their home advantage to showcase the sport in America so it will be interesting to see how that affects them.
I’ve been a little disappointed with the Tallawahs when it has come to their bowling. I look down their side and I see some real class acts but as a unit it hasn’t always fired although in fairness they have played on some blinding wickets. The flip side of that is most of their batsmen have delivered in the tournament which is never a bad thing.
Guyana Amazon Warriors
It had been a perfect start to the tournament for the Guyana Amazon Warriors with two wins from two matches but then the Barbados Tridents rolled into town and promptly ended their unbeaten run. We should cut Guyana a little bit of slack in that match though as they had played the night before so the schedule went against them.
Guyana’s bowling has been very good in their two wins and that will give them plenty of confidence when they boarded the plane for Florida. If there is a criticism it is that their batsmen can get stuck at times but if you are going to struggle with one facet I always think the bat is the one to do it with because bowlers win these matches.
Team News
There is no reason for the Jamaica Tallawahs to change their side unless they want to alter their bowling stocks. They have all contributed at times though so I would be surprised if there are many changes.
The same goes for Guyana really. It might be that this isn’t Keemo Paul’s sort of pitch and they opt for a slower bowler to come in for him but that would be the only change I would foresee Guyana making if they do make any.

Betting
I think we are in for a hugely competitive contest here. I say that because I like the make up of both bowling attacks. Both look very strong with the ball while Guyana don’t look the best with the bat it has to be said. There are a couple of players in each side who could get away if allowed but I’m going to back the bowlers to deliver here.
Given all that I think the runs line of 352.5 could be a touch on the high side. This pitch in Florida can be quite slow and while the boundaries are accessible I think both sides have canny bowlers who can keep it down. This wicket often slows up as it goes along so both sides scoring over 175 looks a tough ask. The line looks a dozen or so too high to me.
