CPL 2018 – Trinbago Knight Riders vs Guyana Amazon Warriors Betting Preview

The Caribbean Premier League returns to the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad on Wednesday evening as the defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders continue their title defence against the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

This might be the last week of the regular season but this is the first meeting between these two this season. Both sides know they will be in the play-offs but the winner here will be favourite to make it into the qualifier which is exactly where everyone wants to be.

Trinbago Knight Riders

After an up and down start to their campaign the Trinbago Knight Riders have clicked into gear in recent times and bring a four match winning run into this contest with them. They have played all but one of their away matches now and have a couple of home games to look to secure their postseason berth.

The big difference for the Knight Riders has been the success of their bowling attack. They were getting carted to all parts earlier in the season especially at the death but they have tightened up significantly and all of a sudden there is a case to be made that they are the team to beat in the play-offs next week.

Guyana Amazon Warriors

When you play the bulk of your home matches first in this tournament, like the Guyana Amazon Warriors have done, you then find yourselves barely playing for the following few weeks as you travel the Caribbean so I dare say the Amazon Warriors will be looking forward to getting stuck in to a run of matches.

Early on in the campaign the Guyana batting was all a bit of a struggle but actually in recent times they have come on leaps and bounds with the bat but maybe just had the edge taken off them with the ball. How much of that is down to the sluggish Guyana wicket they had to endure early in the tournament we may never know but I would wager that was a huge reason.

Team News

Trinbago Knight Riders have Chris Lynn available for them in this match as they look to secure a place in the Qualifier. Colin Ingram will come in later in the tournament but Lynn hasn’t left yet. Trinbago could name an unchanged side therefore.

Guyana Amazon Warriors suddenly look to have a few options with the bat but after a couple of solid performances they may decide to go unchanged. It could be that they swap a bowler around if conditions dictate.

Betting

I have to admit that the top four being decided already is putting me off getting involved in the match betting this week although I’m sure a price will pop up at some point that lures me in. That is not the case here so I’ll go to the performances for my latest bet on the tournament.

I was taking Dwayne Bravo to go well early in the tournament but then he completely lost his mind with the ball but he looks to have his mojo back with that now. I dare say that has come off the back of a couple of tasty knocks with the bat where he has set up victories for his side. Guyana have the bowling to get him to the crease with enough time to score a few runs and they have a long enough tail to interest him in the death overs. His line is 41.5pts but given the influence Bravo has on matches, especially ones his side wins which they are overwhelming favourites to do here, I think he’ll cover.
