We have one game in the CSA T20 Challenge on Wednesday with the Cape Cobras hosting the Dolphins in a huge match for both sides at Cape Town. The two sides have just one win each and with the competition heading towards the halfway stage this is a game neither can afford to lose.
Cape Cobras
The Cobras got off the mark after a couple of disappointing performances when they took care of the Warriors on Friday only to slip up against the Highveld Lions on Sunday in a match which became a bit of a rain affected farce. They will be out to prove their worth here and launch a run of form that will see them into the top three.
Kieron Pollard has taken over the captaincy for the Cobras in recent matches which is interesting. He has plenty of T20 experience and it shows he isn’t just here for a pay day. He will be looking to inspire his side with the bat and the ball in this match.
Dolphins
The Dolphins have taken a couple of savage beatings in this tournament already and although they managed to beat the Highveld Lions that doesn’t appear to be much of a form guide so far. Given that, it is important that they are at the very least competitive in this match but ideally for them they will find the win.
It will be a little while before Kevin Pietersen joins up with the franchise once again so they know they have him to come if they can remain competitive in the tournament until he arrives. If they are to do that someone is going to have to stand up and be counted in the batting line up.
Betting
I’m prepared to give the Cape Cobras another go here. We can’t look too deep into the rain affected loss at the weekend but they looked pretty good against the Warriors in the match prior to that and I feel they have a better balance especially in their batting.
Until Pietersen arrives again I worry about the batting of the Dolphins and the Cobras certainly have the attack to deal with that weakness and expose it. I’m not always keen to take odds on in this format of the game but I’ll make an exception here.
