CSA T20 Challenge – Saturday 12th November Matches Betting Preview

The CSA T20 Challenge begins with a double header of action from Johannesburg on Saturday as four sides kick their tournament into life right from the start. The first match sees the improving Knights taking on the Cape Cobras before the defending champions Titans take on the home side Highveld Lions.

Both matches are live on Sky in the UK so we’ll get a good chance to see the four sides in action which bodes well for us both in following our bets on this match and indeed to gauge the sides going forward.

Knights vs Cape Cobras

The Knights have improved out of all expectation under Nicky Boje and go into this match as near enough on a par with the Cape Cobras. We shouldn’t read too much into the other competitions over different formats but the form of the Cobras in that hasn’t been good.

I have to admit although I think the Cobras will win the match that recent record does put me off taking the Cobras here. That isn’t the only thing that puts me off of course, I’m rarely a backer of either side in the match betting on this ground because it is so hard to defend and batting second is a distinct advantage.

I do like one bet in this match though and predictably it comes in the sixes betting where I’m not convinced a line of 11 or more is enough. The wicket has to survive two matches in this double header so it is going to play well and we all know about the small boundaries here with the altitude in play. Kieron Pollard, David Miller, Richard Levi, Justin Ontong and Rory Kleinveldt can clear any rope so I’m expecting plenty of sixes here.

Highveld Lions vs Titans

The home side Highveld Lions take on the defending champions Titans but both sides are without some big players from their halcyon days so it remains to be seen what sort of match we will get here.

The Lions look particularly weak to me so I would favour the Titans but as I mentioned above I don’t like taking sides on this ground and I certainly don’t like doing it at skinny prices so I’m going to head to the performance markets for a punt in this one.

Every time I watch him play in this format of the game David Wiese takes wickets and there’s no reason why he won’t find a way to take more here. With the Titans missing one or two from their batting line up Wiese is likely to get a bat too and that suggests to me there is enough mileage in him scoring more than 32.5pts.
