The second set of Euro 2020 qualifying matches in this international window begins on Monday night and sees the groups in action on Friday’s card back competing in match day four of the campaign.
That means we get to see the likes of Spain, Ukraine and Denmark back on show while the Republic of Ireland will be looking to continue their fine start to their qualifying section. As ever it should be another good night of football.
Group A
Once again England sit out the action in this group but they will have half an eye on the two matches that do take place. They see the Czech Republic playing host to Montenegro in what is probably the better one of the two while at the same time Bulgaria take on Kosovo with both sides looking to pick up three valuable points in their bid to make it into the main tournament.
Group B
Ukraine had an amazing result on Friday night when they tore Serbia apart to win 5-0 and they will be looking to back that up in one of two matches on the card in this group on Monday evening. They host improving Luxembourg while the aforementioned Serbia will be looking to get back on track at home to a Lithuania side who finished their match with Luxembourg on Friday night with just nine men.
Group D
Republic of Ireland will look to continue their unbeaten start to qualifying when they take on Gibraltar for the second time in the group. It goes without saying that it is a match they have to win while the other game in the group on Monday sees Denmark taking on a Georgia side in a contest they really need to come out on top in as well if they are to maintain any kind of control of their own destiny.
Group F
Spain will look to follow up their solid win over the Faroe Islands when they take on the much stiffer challenge of Sweden on Monday evening while elsewhere in the group Norway will look to put the disappointment of being hauled back late on against Romania on Friday behind them when they take on the Faroe Islands. The other match in the group sees Malta looking like being cannon fodder for the Romanians.
Group G
This competitive group could see another twist and turn on Monday evening. The big match in it sees Poland playing an Israel side who are beginning to look a little more confident. Austria have a tricky test away to North Macedonia and then the other match sees two of the lesser sides in the group looking for a rare victory when Latvia take on a Slovenia team who really need to find a way to win.
Betting
The matches involving these groups were tough on Friday night and I think they are the same here too but there is one bet which stands out to me. There were a couple of others that I considered such as Serbia against Lithuania but backing a side that has just been done by five doesn’t really sit well with me. I don’t think Republic of Ireland will put Gibraltar to the sword but siding with Gibraltar isn’t a profitable method either.
The bet I do like comes with another minnow involved though in the Faroe Islands against Norway match. I’m expecting to see goals in this match. Faroe Islands scored against Spain on Friday night and you would expect them to be more expansive here. Norway have a lot of goals in them but they can concede them too as we saw against Romania on Friday. This is a match both teams will fancy their chances in which is always welcome when we are on the chase for goals. I think over 2.5 comes in here.
