The second set of matches in the Euro 2020 qualifiers in this international break get going on Sunday when those groups which were in action on Thursday evening are back in action on what could be a pivotal day of action.
Belgium qualified for the finals on Thursday evening and Russia will look to join them on Sunday while the likes of Germany and the Netherlands are among a decent set of nations who will be looking to enhance their credentials.
Group C
The two heavyweight sides of Germany and the Netherlands are involved in the matches in this group on Sunday evening. The first of them sees the Dutch heading to Belarus in the early kick off and then when they are done Germany will look to go within a win of qualification for the final stages when they travel to take on a winless Estonia side who should be there for the taking despite holding Belarus on Thursday.
Group E
There is a huge match in this group on Sunday night which comes from Cardiff where Ryan Giggs and his Wales side battle it out against the World Cup finalists Croatia in a match they can’t afford to lose and really need to be looking at winning in order to keep things realistically in their hands. That is the later of the two matches with the first one seeing Hungary looking to enhance their qualification hopes when they host Azerbaijan in a match the home side need to win.
Group G
Poland are the team in control of this group and they will qualify for the finals if they can see off North Macedonia and Austria beat Slovenia in one of the other matches. If Slovenia see off Austria they will move into second spot so there are a couple of key matches in this group on Sunday which should in turn lead to some pretty competitive action for us to enjoy later in the evening.
Group I
All six sides are in action in Group I on Sunday. Belgium have already qualified and they will look to celebrate the fact when they head to Kazakhstan in the first game of the day but really the big match comes from Nicosia where Russia will follow Belgium into the main finals if they can avoid defeat to a Cyprus side who have performed much better than anyone would have expected them to. The other match sees the bottom two sides in the group doing battle when Scotland host Sam Marino in Glasgow.
Betting
I’ll go with two bets over the course of Sunday with the first one coming at Glasgow where in my eyes a 5.5 goal line in the match between Scotland and San Marino is a bit too high. Scotland look a right mess and while I still think they’ll win this game I reckon if you offer them a comfortable 3-0 or 4-0 right now they would snap your hands off and take it. There is a lack of creativity in this Scotland team and a huge lack of firepower so they’ll have to work hard to break down even a San Marino defence given their lack of confidence. 3-0 or 4-0 feels about right here so the under should land quite nicely.
Germany beat Estonia 8-0 earlier in this competition and while I don’t expect them to win to those sorts of levels here I do think they can get halfway there. They are a bit fresher than their opponents having played in a friendly with Argentina on Wednesday night, a match they dominated in the main despite letting a 2-0 lead slip. Estonia are bang average and I don’t see them having too much intent. The pace of Serge Gnabry allows Germany to break these sides down much easier than in the past so I’m expecting Germany to cover a three goal European handicap.
Tips
Back Scotland vs San Marino – Under 5.5 goals for a 4/10 stake at 1.87 with Boylesports
Back Germany (-3) to beat Estonia for a 4/10 stake at 1.83 with Boylesports
