Euro 2024 Qualifying – Friday 8th September Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The international break continues on Friday evening when three more groups in the qualifying for Euro 2024 are in action with 14 teams looking to improve their standing and with it the chances of being in Germany next summer.

We saw the likes of France and the Netherlands enhancing their qualifying chances on Thursday evening and on Friday we get to see whether Spain, Croatia and Portugal can go closer to reaching the finals themselves.

Group A

The action gets underway in Group A on Friday evening where the early kick off takes place in Tbilisi when second placed Georgia play host to a Spain side who will be the favourites to qualify from the section even though they still have six matches to play in a relatively short period of time after their Nations League exploits. The other match in the group sees the runaway leaders Scotland on show in Larnaca when they head on their travels to take on the whipping boys Cyprus.

Group D

Group D is shaping up to be tight and competitive and two more matches get played out in this section on Friday evening. Turkey currently head the way in the group and they will be hoping to stay in pole position when they welcome Armenia to Eskisehir. Armenia are second in that group so one of them are going to drop points which will be to the benefit of Croatia, who will be expected to take advantage when they play host to lowly ranked Latvia.

Group J

The other group on show on Friday is Group J where Portugal have a 100% record which they will be looking to maintain when they travel to play second placed Slovakia. Luxembourg are the slightly surprise package in third place going into the latest set of matches and they host Iceland in what is a big game for the home side. Bosnia and Herzegovina will be looking to push on and make it into the finals when they welcome Liechtenstein who are yet to score in the group let alone claim a point.

Betting

There isn’t a huge amount to go at over the course of Friday evening but there is one bet which jumps out at me and that comes in the match between Turkey and Armenia where I fancy both teams to score for the second time in this qualifying campaign. The reverse meeting between these two ended 2-1 to Turkey and I wouldn’t be surprised to see something similar here because there is certainly a goal threat in the Armenia side these days.

Lucas Zelarayan impressed so much in MLS that he got a move to the Saudi Pro League while Grant-Leon Ramos has got his move to the Bundesliga side Morussia Monchengladbach. Armenia have scored seven goals in three matches in this group while Turkey are fairly free scoring themselves under Stefan Kuntz. Between the two they have played seven matches in the group and only kept one clean sheet and that was Turkey against a bang average Wales side. I like both teams to score in this one.
