The second day of action at the European Darts Trophy sees round two of the tournament being played out across a couple of sessions of play on Saturday on a day where the seeded players enter the competition in Gottingen.
That means that we see the likes of world number one Luke Humphries, former champions Michael van Gerwen and Michael Smith and many other big names on the stage for the first time, all eyeing up a spot at the final day of the tournament.
Afternoon Session
We open up a good looking day of darts on Saturday with a clash between two Dutchmen when Danny Noppert begins his tournament against the highly rated Wessel Nijman. When they are done two Englishmen follow them onto the stage as James Wade takes on Ross Smith who was very impressive on Friday night. Rob Cross then gets his campaign underway in the third match of the afternoon when he meets the former UK Open champion Andrew Gilding before we head to the halfway point of the session with Damon Heta facing off against Cameron Menzies.
Chris Dobey will be looking for a big weekend to boost his confidence ahead of the next night of Premier League action and he opens up his competition against the in form Jermaine Wattimena before the former champion Michael Smith faces one of many home players on show on Saturday in Ricardo Pietreczko. The afternoon concludes with a couple of tasty games as Josh Rock plays Gian van Veen in the pick of the session before Dimitri Van den Bergh rounds things off when he faces Ryan Joyce.

Evening Session
The very big stars come out to play in the evening session on Saturday and the first one onto the stage is the man who landed a Players Championship title at the beginning of the week as Gary Anderson faces Luke Woodhouse. Gerwyn Price will then go in search of the win which will take him to the final day of the event when he plays Ryan Searle before Dave Chisnall will look to turn his form around against Ricky Evans. We get to the halfway point of the session with a juicy looking clash between Peter Wright and the World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker.
One of the more anticipated matches of the entire day gets the second half of the evening session underway when the defending champion Michael van Gerwen begins his title defence against the German rising star Niko Springer. When they are done the world number one Luke Humphries takes to the stage for the first time this weekend to face Boris Krcmar. Jonny Clayton is the next seed on show and he has the daunting task of facing the German number one Martin Schindler on home soil before a cracking day of darts is rounded off by Nathan Aspinall and the reigning European champion Ritchie Edhouse.
Betting
I’ll take just the one bet over the course of the action on Saturday and it is the man who delivered the goods for me on Friday night as Ricky Evans goes up against Dave Chisnall. These two have become familiar foes in recent times with Evans dumping Chisnall out of the World Championship in a deciding set at the back end of 2024 before Chizzy got his revenge when he saw off Evans in a final leg at the UK Open last month.
That would suggest that we are in for a tight match here but I can’t get past the fact that Chisnall has lost five of his last seven matches heading to this part of Germany. Evans was confident enough to share on social media that he is feeling good about his game and fuelled by emotion he saw off Raymond van Barneveld with a very solid showing on Friday night and against a similarly out of form opposition in Chisnall I think Evans cam come through again at odds against.
