European Darts Trophy 2025 – Last 16 Tips and Betting Preview

It is the final day of the European Darts Trophy in Gottingen on Sunday as the second European Tour event of the season plays down to a champion from the last 16 stage across two potentially tasty sessions of darts.

The quarter finals onwards comes along in the evening session where time restrictions will deny us the chance to preview the action, although hopefully we’ll still have an outright interest in that. We’ll look at the last 16 here though.

First Four Matches

The final day of the tournament begins with the man who was a win away from claiming the first European Tour event of the year on show when Mike De Decker faces Cameron Menzies. When they are done Rob Cross will look to make it through to the quarter finals when he faces off against the solid Ryan Joyce. One of the pick of the matches in this round is the third one onto the stage in the afternoon when Gerwyn Price takes on Wessel Nijman in a blockbuster clash before we reach the halfway point of the session when two Dutch stars collide as Michael van Gerwen faces Gian van Veen.

Later Four Matches

The star names keep on coming in the second part of the afternoon as the former European champion Ross Smith looks to make it into another quarter final at this level when he takes on Dave Chisnall before the last remaining home player looks to take German interest into the final session when Martin Schindler faces Gary Anderson. The penultimate match of the round of 16 has the Premier League star Nathan Aspinall facing Jermaine Wattimena before we conclude the afternoon with a clash between the 2023 and 2024 world champions as Michael Smith faces the world number one Luke Humphries.

Betting

We should be in for a cracking day of darts and one I hope Mike De Decker rises to the occasion in because he is my remaining outright bet after Niko Springer went narrowly down on Saturday night. In terms of a bet for the afternoon though I am happy to take Jermaine Wattimena to get the better of Nathan Aspinall. Aspinall has looked like a man who is a bit jaded to me in the last week or so. Whether that is because of the amount of darts he is playing or something else only he will know but he fell over the line against Ritchie Edhouse on Saturday night and will need to be much better here.

Wattimena doesn’t have that problem. He has just recorded his highest ever European Tour average in beating Chris Dobey on Saturday afternoon and even if he drops 10 points to around 101 you would think he would be more than competitive here. Wattimena is really scoring solidly at the minute and you can tell he is confident because he is pinning his doubles. He has been one of the better players in the game in the last five months or so and the 10/11 on him here looks a fair price.

Tips

Back J.Wattimena to beat N.Aspinall for a 3/10 stake at 1.91 with William Hill
