It is the final day of the German Darts Grand Prix on Monday when as ever the tournament plays down from the last 16 stage through until we find out champion out in Munich, and with plenty of big names on show we’re in for some day of darts.
The afternoon session will see the last 16 of the tournament played and then the quarter finals onwards all come in the evening. Time restrictions will stop us from previewing the evening session but we do still have an outright bet running and hopefully he’ll make it through the afternoon to give us some evening interest.
First Four Matches
We start off with the pick of the last 16 matches where given the way the rankings are, only in these European Tour events will we see Michael Smith taking on Gerwyn Price at this stage of a competition. The second match of the afternoon sees Keane Barry meeting Berry van Peer before two Dutch stars meet when Dirk van Duijvenbode takes on the former UK Open champion Danny Noppert. We head to the halfway mark of the afternoon with a clash between the World Cup winner Damon Heta and Masters champion Chris Dobey.

Later Four Matches
We come out of the break with a couple of good looking matches with Nathan Aspinall up first when he takes on the former BDO world finalist Jim Williams. Dave Chisnall beat Andrew Gilding to win the first European Tour event of the year and the two meet in game six after the afternoon session. The last 16 concludes with a match between the surprise package Lee Evans and Joe Cullen before the number one seed Luke Humphries goes up against Jose de Sousa.
Betting
I’ll go with one bet in these matches on Monday and it comes in that earlier clash between Chris Dobey and Damon Heta. Dobey has played twice on the stage this weekend having had to come through the first round as a qualifier and he has played mighty well in both of them. He won with a 100 average in the first round and then he beat Dimitri Van den Bergh in the second one on Sunday with an average which was touching 97.
Heta entered the tournament on Sunday and while his win over Gabriel Clemens looks good on paper, he averaged just 89.13 and if he has that level with him here then he is going to be comfortably beaten. Heta actually has a 4-0 lead on Dobey in their past meetings but none of them were this year where the Geordie has gone to a new level with his play. Dobey looks and feels confident on the stage but I don’t see that being the case with Heta and based on what we’ve seen this weekend and over the last few months on the stage I’m expecting Dobey to come through here.
Tips
Back C.Dobey to beat D.Heta for a 3/10 stake at 1.91 with William Hill
