The Global Super League continues on Wednesday night when the tournament hosts look to make it through to the final when the Guyana Amazon Warriors take on the Rangpur Riders who will hope to keep their campaign alive.
The stakes are fairly high here. Guyana probably aren’t going to make the final with a defeat while Rangpur are definitely out of contention if they lose so we could basically bill this one as the first knockout clash of the event.
Guyana Amazon Warriors
The Guyana Amazon Warriors have been a little hit and miss in this tournament. Whether that is down to the pressure of expectation of being the favourites before a ball was bowled or just because they are not used to being together at this time of the year only they will know but you would expect them to improve with each match and if they do that here they should be tough to beat because they were fairly comfortable against Hampshire in their last outing.
The Guyana batting is beginning to warm to the task which is never a bad thing but as these pitches begin to tire and get harder to score on it is their bowling which they will be relying on to get the job done. I think it is fair to say that they would have expected more from that department so far but we know from the CPL competitions in the past that they have the bowlers to maximise these conditions so when they come good Guyana should be tough to beat.
Rangpur Riders
The Rangpur Riders enter the second half of their campaign with two defeats in their two matches so far and obviously need to turn things around quickly. They will probably feel annoyed to be 0-2 for the tournament because only they will know how they didn’t get across the line in their first game against Hampshire and they were well in the second one before not quite capitalising on a fairly good position going into the second half of their batting innings.
That is the area where the improvement is needed the most from the Bangladeshi outfit. They have had good chances to win matches courtesy of their bowlers getting the job done but they have failed to get the job done despite in both games needing less than a run a ball at one point. If those batters can come to the party, and it might be that they need to look at their order rather than their personnel, then the bowling is getting the job done at the minute.

Key Players
We saw how important Gudakesh Motie can be with the bat for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the previous match but we haven’t yet seen his best with the ball. It is still hard to believe that the home side can win this tournament without him showing up with the ball.
Soumya Sarkar has played himself in on both occasions he has been at the crease in this tournament but he hasn’t stayed around long enough to put the win on the board. Rangpur Riders will be hoping this is the match he can do that in.
Betting
We haven’t really seen a blowout win in this tournament yet and while I would expect the Guyana Amazon Warriors to win this match, with the pressure that is on it for both sides I’m not convinced we are going to see this one deliver one-way traffic either. Rangpur Riders go into this match with no win from two but they are not yet out of contention for a place in the final and they certainly haven’t been as weak as the record would suggest.
I don’t think we have seen the Guyana Amazon Warriors at full pelt yet either but this is a match they only need to win rather than look convincing in it. Both teams have plenty of bowlers who can be tough to get away here, especially the Riders who offer up some quality spin and whose batters can play spin. I don’t expect Rangpur to win this match but the handicap is a little large for me to ignore at 5.5 wickets or 22.5 runs. In these conditions it feels well within range for the Bangladesh outfit to stay that close.
