We continue to close in on the Royal Ascot meeting in a few days but before we get there we have some standout racing to enjoy over in France on Sunday where Chantilly hosts one of their bigger meetings of the year.
The highlight of the card is the French Oaks where the fillies will battle it out over 10 furlongs in what looks like a very good renewal. We have studied the race in full and have a big priced fancy for it.

Preview
The big race of the week takes place over in France with the Prix de Diane, also known as the French Oaks, being run over a mile and a quarter at Chantilly, It has attracted a big field of 15 and this could take some winning. Blue Rose Cen, the winner of her last 4 including the French 1000 Guineas, is a worthy favourite but I’m slightly concerned that the ground won’t be soft enough and others will be better suited by this longer trip. Whilst Pensee Du Jour is unbeaten, this is a completely different level & I couldn’t be backing her at around 4/1. Jannah Rose is another that’s unbeaten but she did last win a Group 1, the Prix Saint Alary, with reopposing rivals Elusive Princess and Left Sea behind. I actually think Elusive Princess could turn the tables but the bigger worry is that the race has been a poor trial for this in recent years. Four head oversea, with Running Lion and Novakai from the UK and Caroline Street and Never Ending Story from Ireland. The first named has the best chance if taking to the stalls better than she did in the Oaks where she was withdrawn.

Betting
Lindy – At a ridiculous price, I cannot let the selection go unbacked. A winner of all 3 starts as a 2 year old, she’s been second twice this term, both terms when not able to quite catch today’s favourite Blue Rose Cen. She didn’t have the run of the race in the Prix De La Grotte and again wasn’t perfectly positioned in the French 1000 Guineas. Admittedly, the favourite has beaten her twice, both times by over a length but on both occasions, she was closing all the way to the line & did pull clear of the rest of the field. I think she’ll be better suited by the extra 2 furlongs whilst the slightly better ground is also another thing in her favour. I’ll continue to say it but her jockey is one of the best and she looks massively overpriced in a really open renewal of the French Oaks.
