ILT20 2023 – Sharjah Warriors vs MI Emirates Tips and Betting Preview

Two teams who have made very different starts to the International League T20 meet in the one match in the ILT20 on Tuesday as Sharjah hosts the tournament for the first time when the Sharjah Warriors take on MI Emirates.

The Warriors have played twice in this tournament and have lost them both so they will hope the venue they will call home for this event inspires them to get off the mark. Mi Emirates have won the only match they have played. That was against this opponent.

Sharjah Warriors

It has been a start to the season to forget for the Sharjah Warriors so far. Usually in these franchise tournaments the mantra will be that it isn’t how you start it is how you finish them but with a trio of key players heading off on international duty through the middle of this competition it is open to debate whether that counts where the Sharjah Warriors are concerned. They can ease some of the damage they have done with their start if they can get a win here.

The problem that the Warriors have is it is both sides of the ball that they are struggling on. They haven’t really hit their straps with the bat yet, not helped by Evin Lewis having bagged a pair of ducks to open up his campaign, and their bowling has unravelled quite quickly when it has come under pressure. It needs a complete improvement all round if they are going to get off the mark at the third time of asking.

MI Emirates

This tournament is in its fifth day and the MI Emirates play just their second match of the competition here. They will be looking to emulate the Gulf Giants and pick up a second win in two matches. If they are able to do that they will head to the top of the table and be in a decent early position. MI Emirates might just be the most powerful side in the competition so if they get their dander up early they could be hard to stop.

The one thing which might slow them down a bit is there are three men very much in the twilight of their career in this team and you wonder whether they will be able to get through without suffering injury or needing to be rested here and there. The top seven for MI Emirates looks so good and if they all find form opposition need to look out. It is impossible for the bowling to be as good on paper but to be fair it isn’t far behind.

Key Players

When a team gets off to a poor start it needs someone experienced to just take the heat out of the situation and play each ball as it comes and that is something Dawid Malan is very good at. He will be looking for some runs ahead of popping off on international duty.

Muhammad Waseem wasn’t able to show all of his batting pwer at the T20 World Cup because the UAE played their matches in Geelong but it was blatantly obvious that he could bat and he certainly had the chance to show that here.

Betting

All eyes will be on this Sharjah pitch to see how good it is because if it is half decent then we are going to have a high scoring game here. With this being the first game of a brand new tournament you would imagine the organisers want the pitches to be very good and to be fair the ones which have been produced in Abu Dhabi and Dubai so far have been excellent ones for T20 cricket. Should we get something similar here then the sixes just have to flow on this ground.

The line for this match is 13.5 sixes which feels a little on the low side even if it isn’t the best batting pitch. We saw when the IPL was here in the past and when the T20 World Cup came to this part of the world in 2021 just how short the boundaries are on this ground and we’ve just had 16 sixes in the reverse meeting between these two earlier in the week. Sharjah didn’t get going with the bat in that match either so there is the potential for a heck of a lot more sixes here especially when you factor in that Will Smeed never got going in that game. I like the over here.
