Indian Open Snooker – Day 3 Betting Preview

Another busy day is on the cards in the Indian Open in Hyderabad on Thursday as the entire last 32 will be played out across two sessions of play. By the end of the day we will know the 16 players who will play out the last two days of the tournament.

With relatively few shocks in the tournament so far the order of play on Thursday contains some of the bigger names in the sport with them all on the live tables so we get to see them all play via the live streaming consoles with the various bookmakers.

Morning Session

Eight matches take place in the morning session with the four live matches being the ones between Xiao Guodong and Kyren Wilson, Marco Fu vs Dominic Dale, Joe Swail vs Robert Milkins and Shaun Murphy against Michael Georgiou.

In the other matches Anthony Hamilton is up against Gary Wilson, Barry Hawkins takes on Rory McLeod, Oliver Lines plays Andrew Higginson and Anthony McCill plays Matthew Selt so both of our outrights go off in the morning session.

Afternoon Session

Three former world champions take to the baize in the afternoon session when Stuart Bingham goes up against Matthew Stevens, Peter Ebdon plays Duane Jones and Mark Williams faces the amateur David Lilley.

All eyes will be on the match between Stephen Maguire and Pankaj Advani while Martin Gould vs Jamie Jones looks like being a good match. The other three matches see Sam Baird taking on Nigel Bond, Robbie Williams playing John Astley and Mark Davis facing Thailand’s Akani Songsermsawad.

Betting

This isn’t really a day where much stands out so having cleaned up in the first round with four winners from four match bets I’m largely going to keep my powder dry here but there is one punt I like around hoping that my two outrights come through.

I took Anthony Hamilton to beat Michael White on the opening day of the tournament and he did so but I wouldn’t say he played all that well. In fact he was quite poor and he wasn’t a whole lot better in coming through a deciding frame against Eden Sharav on Wednesday either.

He takes on Gary Wilson who is on the upturn and who actually matches up badly for Hamilton I think in that he is a very good break builder but he is also good enough to keep his opponent at long range and force the mistakes out of them. Wilson came past the talented Zhao Xintong in the first round and should be full of confidence.

Wilson is the favourite for this match and I think that is right but I’d have him a little shorter than he actually is and with that in mind he is my sole bet for Thursday’s action.

Tips
