Indian Premier League 2017 – Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Betting Preview

The Indian Premier League continues on Wednesday with arguably the two best sides in the competition doing battle at the Wankhede Stadium when the last two champions – Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad clash in a heavyweight match up.

The Mumbai Indians have a win and a defeat to their name this season while the Sunrisers Hyderabad have flown out of the traps with a couple of sizeable wins and sit top of the early table.

Mumbai Indians

If you were being honest the Mumbai Indians should have won both of their matches so far and they would have done too if their fielding performance against the Rising Pune Supergiant wasn’t as shoddy as it was. There was a clear effort to improve on that in the field against the Kolkata Knight Riders and it had the desired result.

One area the Mumbai side don’t lack in is with the ball and even on a ground like the Wankhede they will fancy their chances of restricting most sides. If there is an issue it comes with the bat and we’ve seen that in both matches so far where big overs at the end have got them out of an early hole.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

The defending champions have been almost perfect in their start to the campaign. They have been far too good for the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Gujarat Lions but those matches were both in Hyderabad and it will be interesting to see if they can keep up the quality now that they go on the road for the first time.

Just like Mumbai, Hyderabad have a bowling attack which can stand up to any in the competition and we have seen that so far with two extremely powerful batting line ups restricted to 172 and 135. What they have over many other sides with good bowling attacks is a powerful batting line up that can tear an attack apart.

Team News

All the indications are that Mustafizur Rahman is going to come into the side for this match. He is most likely to replace Ben Cutting in what will probably be the only change.

Mumbai Indians remain without Ambati Rayudu so it is possible that they could be unchanged after such a dominant performance. Mitchell McClenaghan could be replaced by Tim Southee if they wanted too.

Betting

I know betting on matches at the Wankhede isn’t the shrewdest move in the world but there are exceptions to every rule and I believe the Sunrisers Hyderabad are that exception here. I just don’t see a weakness in them. Even when one materialises it doesn’t last for long.

There certainly isn’t a weakness in their bowling attack. They have four superstars with the ball and while Mumbai Indians are strong with the ball even they have a couple of bowlers who you would fancy getting after if the situation was right. We know the wicket will be good but I would back the Sunrisers to defend a score and chase one down. I’m not sure Mumbai can.
