The offering from the Indian Premier League on Wednesday comes from Hyderabad as the Sunrisers Hyderabad continue their defence of the title when they entertain the only side they couldn’t beat last season in the Delhi Daredevils.
Both teams have begun the season quite strongly and both will be confident that they will make the playoffs from the position that they are in which should make for a hugely exciting and competitive match here.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
The season began well for the Sunrisers and then they suffered a bit of a wobble so they will have been delighted to get back to winning ways in their last match against the Kings XI Punjab. Credit must go to their coaching staff for recognising the areas of the side which weren’t quite functioning and making the necessary changes.
That just fine tuned their bowling attack which is the area of the game they thrive on and build their success upon. They have work to do with the bat but it wouldn’t be a surprise if that has now been highlighted and the necessary changes are made there too. They will need to be if they are to defend their title.
Delhi Daredevils
After a tame opening defeat the Delhi Daredevils gave their fans plenty of hope and belief with two destructive wins to move into the playoff places but they came unstuck in a classic last time out when the Kolkata Knight Riders knocked them off so they will be looking to respond positively once again.
Delhi’s strength is in their bowling attack so they will be disappointed that they couldn’t defend what had looked a very good total. In reality it was one partnership which got away from them in that match so they shouldn’t be too downbeat. If anything it might just have focused them again and avoided any complacency.
Team News
Sunrisers Hyderabad brought Mohammad Nabi into their side to excellent effect last time out and he could remain in the side. Kane Williamson could replace Moises Henriques as a better batsmen who offers a spinning option which could be more valuable.
Corey Anderson missed out on the last match through injury and with Angelo Mathews not really doing much as a replacement that switch back looks an obvious one. Shahbaz Nadeem could come back into the side too.

Betting
I’m expecting an extremely competitive match here between two sides who match up to each other fairly well. Conditions in Hyderabad have been good so far in the tournament so there shouldn’t be any toss bias which will make for a good game of cricket. Sunrisers are favourites which is fair enough with their home record but the Daredevils can’t be ruled out. I don’t have a strong feeling either way though so I’ll head for the side markets in this one.
I think the sixes line is a bit high here. I mentioned in the two matches these two played on Easter Monday how their attacks are hard to get away and actually neither side hits too many big shots with the obvious exceptions such as Dave Warner, Yuvraj Singh, Rishabh Pant etc.
I’m expecting the ball to have the better of the bat in this match though so the big hitting could come at a premium. This is a fairly big ground and the last two matches here have only seen seven and 11 sixes. I don’t see this one going over 12.5 either.
Naman Ojha caught my eye in the last match for the Sunrisers and with Delhi taking plenty of wickets up front his batting could come under the spotlight once again in this match. That knock against the Kings XI was the first real opportunity Ojha has had and 34 from 20 when the Sunrisers were in trouble was the sort of effort that could see him go up the order. Even if he doesn’t move up he’ll bat at five so 20/1 on him top scoring is a silly price.
