Tuesday’s match in the Indian Premier League gives Sunrisers Hyderabad the chance to go back to the top of the table when they head back to Visakhapatnam to take on the Rising Pune Supergiants.
Any win for the Sunrisers will send them back to the top but this is arguably an even bigger match for the Supergiants who need to win out to have any chance of making the playoffs and even then it is unlikely.
Rising Pune Supergiants
The Pune side looked like they had put up a challenging total against the Royal Challengers Bangalore last time out but a Virat Kohli masterclass made it look insignificant and that has largely been the story of their season.
Scoring runs has rarely been a problem for the Supergiants this season but stopping them has been a whole different story. Having to change home venue halfway through the season isn’t a move that is ideal either.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
It must be said that the Sunrisers are beginning to look like a very strong unit. They are finally putting up totals with the bat and I’d go as far as to say that they have the best bowling attack in the division now.
The Sunrisers destroyed Mumbai here over the weekend in a result which was so emphatic it spoke volumes. It also ensured that the Sunrisers have the net run rate on their side should they need it later in the competition and in a congested top five that could yet be crucial.
Team news
You would think the Supergiants have to make changes to their bowling attack. They were carted in pretty dismissive style in the previous game and that isn’t good so I’m expecting changes. Irfan Pathan could come into the side.
Unless they suffer any late or last minute injuries I would imagine the Sunrisers will be unchanged after such a good run of form. Yuvraj Singh’s inclusion in the side has given them a very nice balance to their team.

This will be the second match played on this ground with the first one also involving the Sunrisers Hyderabad even though this isn’t their home ground! They piled on the runs and then took care of Mumbai’s batting ruthlessly but it must be said the wicket became trickier to bat on under lights so the batsmen might not have it all their own way here.
Betting
This is more like a home game for the Sunrisers than it is for Pune. Sunrisers Hyderabad used this ground for a few home matches last season and they’ve already played a match at the venue this season so I believe they have a significant advantage in that regard.
They also have the advantage in that they are the better side of the two as well so there is a lot to like about Dave Warner’s men in this match. They are batting well now and if this becomes a battle of the bowling attacks, like so many matches in this format do, then there can only be one winner.
Pune haven’t bowled well all season and you look at their line up and it just looks weak with the exception of Ravi Ashwin. That bowling attack is there to be exposed by a ruthless Sunrisers side.
