It is the final day of International Championship qualifying on Saturday with the last 12 matches to be played out up at the Guild Hall in Preston. The final matches will be played across a bigger morning session and a smaller afternoon one and by the end of it we will know the names of the men heading to China for the main event.
Morning Session
Mark Allen is the big name in action on Saturday morning. He takes on Daniel Wells in a match which is highly likely to be on the streamed tables. Ryan Day will probably be the other one when he faces Louis Heathcote.
The other matches sees Oliver Lines taking on Liam Highfield, Robert Milkins plays Anthony Hamilton, Gary Wilson battles Craig Steadman, Jack Lisowski plays Aditya Mehta, Tian Pengfei goes up against Noppon Saengkham and Li Hang will take on Sean O’Sullivan.
Afternoon Session
Just the four matches take place in the afternoon session but two huge names take to the tables when Judd Trump plays Hossein Vafaei Ayouri and Shaun Murphy plays Kritsanut Lertsattayatthorn. Those are likely to be the streamed matches. In the other matches Mark King plays Jamie Cope and Alfie Burden faces Duane Jones.
Betting
I’ve not gone too crazy in this qualifying event but there was a winner on Friday and I’m looking to build on that with just the one bet on Saturday. That comes in the match between Gary Wilson and Craig Steadman where I like Wilson to come through.
I opposed Wilson in midweek against Robin Hull and I’m not ashamed to admit I got lucky to get a winner out of it and I’m expecting that to have really increased the determination in Wilson to come through this match. Despite the agonising defeat to Hull, Wilson has been playing nicely recently and a lot better than Steadman.
Steadman is steely and determined but having lost his last two matches without winning a frame his confidence is entitled to be pretty low. Wilson has shown in the past that he can go deep in main events and I think he can get to the final stages of this one with a fairly comfortable win.
