Two sides who lost their opening match in the Indian Premier League season over the weekend meet in Jaipur when the IPL continues on Wednesday as the Rajasthan Royals get set to go up against the Delhi Daredevils.
It is relatively early in the campaign and there is a lot of cricket to be played after this match but neither team will want to begin the season with successive defeats so there is a fair bit on this one it must be said.
Rajasthan Royals
The returning franchise must have wished they had another few days away from the competition after making an absolute mess of their opening match. The Rajasthan Royals never truly got going with the bat and after making a poor start at no stage did things ever really get any better so they won’t want to dwell on that for too long.
They should focus on it for a little while though because they made some mistakes. By that I mean before the game and during it. I found their batting line up completely mystifying and that is something that will need to be sorted out while on the field their fielding was shocking and you need to be a good fielding team at the very least.
Delhi Daredevils
It wasn’t really the best afternoon for the Delhi Daredevils either. They ended up running Kings XI Punjab close on paper but in truth the result was never in doubt from a fair distance out and the scoreline might just have flattered the Daredevils in the end. They will be looking for a dramatic improvement for this one.
Much like their opponents in this match it was with the bat that the Daredevils let themselves down in the first game but they couldn’t control the Kings XI in the powerplay either. Credit must go to them for taking it as deep as they did but they might require a bit of a rethink themselves heading into a match they will believe they can win.
Team News
Rajasthan Royals have signed Ish Sodhi as a replacement for an injured player but he won’t be around in time for this match so the Royals could be unchanged in terms of personnel but surely they will make a better fist of their batting line up.
Delhi Daredevils were without Glenn Maxwell in the opening match of the competition but he will be available to them here. He is likely to come in for Daniel Christian. Colin Munro is expected to play again despite failing in Mohali and despite Jason Roy waiting in the wings.

Betting
Historically the Rajasthan Royals have been very hard to beat at home and I’ve a feeling they might be tough to beat here too. They were horrendous in their first match but in some ways it is better to be awful as they know that they need improvements in all departments.
In truth I think that Rajasthan only need to sort out their batting line up to become a much better side. I think Delhi Daredevils have one or two more issues coming into this match and while Glenn Maxwell will make them stronger their bowling attack was a real concern in the opening match. Rajasthan have severe power in their batting and as long as they utilise it properly this time I think they can win this.
