A week of huge matches in the Indian Premier League continues on Thursday afternoon when the Royal Challengers Bangalore play host to the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
The Sunrisers are already assured of a top two spot so they are playing for little in this match but it is a huge one for Bangalore. They know their next defeat is likely to be their last from a competitive standpoint so they have to win here.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
It took them long enough but it would appear that the Royal Challengers Bangalore have finally found a set up that suits them and that gives them the best chance of winning matches. They have won their last two matches and while they haven’t been perfect in them they have built up some confidence which is never a bad thing.
Bangalore still have an issue when it comes to the death bowling but the positive to that is they are taking a lot more wickets up front which means when it gets to the death they are bowling at batsmen who are less likely to take them to the cleaners. Their batting continues to look powerful which is important.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
The Sunrisers Hyderabad have sewn up a top two spot since they last played which is good because they were ripped apart by the Chennai Super Kings last time out. Although they are guaranteed a spot in the first qualifier next week they won’t want to go into them on a losing run so they should feel there is something to play for here.
Earlier on in the campaign the Sunrisers batting was a bit of a struggle but since they made the move to play Alex Hales they have been much better with that but to counter that their bowling is just starting to struggle a wee bit. They have conceded 180 or more in their last two matches and need to get back to that gun attack of earlier in the season.
Team News
It would appear that Royal Challengers Bangalore are done with Quinton de Kock for the time being so they could well be unchanged. One man they can’t call upon any longer is Chris Woakes. He is on his way back to prepare for England duty.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will hope to have Wriddhiman Saha available with him hopefully recovered from a shoulder injury. If he returns he is likely to be the only change to the side unless they want to shake the bowling up a bit.

Betting
This is another big match in what has been a week of big matches. A Royal Challengers Bangalore win sees them join the pile of teams on 12 points but a defeat pretty much ends their tournament so everything is on the line for the home side. Despite that they are plenty short enough here and can’t be backed on a ground that is so tough to defend.
With that in mind I’m heading to the side markets and with me expecting the boundaries to flow a 42.5 line doesn’t look high enough. There hasn’t been a match on this ground for more than two weeks so the wicket should play excellently here. We’ve seen throughout the season that the scores and boundaries have flowed nicely. Both these sides are batting well now and with this being a bowlers’ graveyard I’m expecting that 42.5 line to be covered.
