There is one match in the Indian Premier League on Wednesday and it comes from Mumbai as two sides with excellent starts to the season do battle when the Mumbai Indians take on the Kings XI Punjab for two more valuable points.
It is usually at this point that Mumbai are getting their act together and playing their best cricket and they might need to here against a well-rounded Punjab outfit who are not doing a whole lot wrong at the minute.
Mumbai Indians
With three wins from their opening five matches, the Mumbai Indians are likely to find their beginning to the campaign a very acceptable one but they will not want to rest on their laurels as the Indians Premier League table is still a bunched up one, so it will need a run of form from someone to separate it. All eyes will be on the Indians to see if it is them.
The biggest thing for the Mumbai outfit is that their whole team unit has contributed to their wins so far. They have won matches with the bat earlier in the campaign and then Alzarri Joseph came up trumps for them when they needed it most in the previous match. Mumbai head into this one with a win last time out and their confidence visibly rising.
Kings XI Punjab
Mumbai might have had a good start to the campaign but it has been even better for the Kings XI Punjab and they will head to Wankhede looking to build on a start that has seen them win four out of their six matches. The comfort the Kings XI will have is that there is still a whole lot more to come from them yet too.
Their batting unit hasn’t fired completely as one since the opening week of the campaign but they haven’t had to because R Ashwin has managed his bowling attack very well and they have been restricting sides as a result. You would think the batting will need to fire on this ground but there is every chance of that happening.
Team News
Lasith Malinga is back available after darting off to win a local event for his side in Sri Lanka over the weekend but whether he can replace Alzarri Joseph after his 6-for in the last match remains to be seen. Rohit Sharma looked to pick up an injury on the eve of the match and could be a doubt.
Kings XI Punjab are unlikely to make too many changes to their side. Mayank Agarwal did something weird in the field in Hyderabad but then came out and batted beautifully so there doesn’t look to be a problem there.

Betting
I’m a little surprised that Kings XI are priced as big as they are and if this was on one of the bigger grounds where batting second wasn’t as big as it is, I would have had no hesitation in backing them, but we all know that chasing is the way to go at the Wankhede, unless you do what Chennai did here in the last match here.
With that in mind I’ll take the boundaries in this one. There were 40 boundaries in that match involving Chennai last week even though Chennai put the big shots away after the powerplay. There were 45 boundaries when these two met here last year and Gayle didn’t fire and Miller didn’t play. The Kings XI top four look in good nick, they have players down the order who can find the boundaries and their bowling can go around the park. Mumbai are littered with batsmen and have weak links in the attack. Over 43.5 boundaries looks good to me here.
