IPL 2020 – Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Capitals Tips and Betting Preview

The Indian Premier League remains in Dubai on Monday when two of the three sides who sit on six points in the competition meet with top spot very much the reward for the winner of the match between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Delhi Capitals.

Both teams go into the match with three wins from four so there certainly shouldn’t be any confidence issues in either which should make for some high quality cricket between two sides loaded with superstars.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

The Royal Challengers Bangalore side started the tournament slowly. Although they won their opening match they were heading towards a pretty heavy beating by the Sunrisers Hyderabad before their opponents collapsed in a heap. Then came their only defeat but to be fair to Bangalore they have addressed the situation, made the necessary changes in personnel and are looking like a competent unit as a result of that.

They are not a team without flaws or weaknesses. They still lack someone powerful to come in and finish an innings should nobody from their top four make it that far and their death bowling still has a feel of them winging it a little bit. One area where there is no issues is in the top four in their batting order and with Virat Kohli coming to the party in their last outing against the Rajasthan Royals, they should only get better from here on in.

Delhi Capitals

The Delhi Capitals had a blip against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their third match of the competition but they rebounded in style to beat the Kolkata Knight Riders in emphatic nature in their latest game. They piled up the runs and managed to defend a score on that small Sharjah ground so their bowlers deserve a lot of credit for that. That win pretty much confirms that the defeat to Hyderabad was an off day and a win here would certainly end any doubt.

It is hard to find too many weaknesses in this Delhi Capitals outfit. It certainly doesn’t come in their top order and while their middle order is a touch short of runs that is only because the top order has been going so well. In Kagiso Rabada and Amrich Nortje they have two of the fastest bowlers in the competition and they have the spin department covered through Amit Mishra and Ravi Ashwin. There is a case to be made that the Capitals are the team to beat in the early stages.

Key Men

Delhi Capitals have an excellent new ball attack so if Aaron Finch can show his best form and counteract that then the Royal Challengers Bangalore may well be on their way to success in this match. He is a key man for the Bangalore outfit.

On the flip side of that the Delhi Capitals will need to get stuck into this Royal Challengers Bangalore batting as early as they can so that makes Kagiso Rabada, the leading wicket taker in the competition, the main man for the Capitals here.

Betting

I think the Delhi Capitals are a very strong looking unit at the minute, one who have all the bases covered and I think they can expose the weaknesses that the Royal Challengers Bangalore side have. The big concern I have is that the Challengers have only lost five wickets in their last two matches so outside of their top four their players have only faced 10 balls in about a week so if Delhi get stuck into the Bangalore top order early they could expose some rust in the Challengers’ ranks.

Delhi have the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Amrich Nortje and Marcus Stoinis who can do that and the likes of Amit Mishra and R Ashwin can certainly keep the top four honest. The Delhi top four have all gone well in this tournament and they have a decent engine room to propel a total especially if Bangalore are off colour at the death as they have a tendency to be. In simple terms the Capitals look the better side here and I fancy them for the win.
