IPL 2021 – Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Mumbai Indians Tips and Betting Preview

Two sides will in all likelihood end their Indian Premier League campaign on Friday when the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Mumbai Indians meet in Abu Dhabi in what is the final regular season game for both sides.

The Sunrisers’ campaign definitely ends at the conclusion of this match while unless the Indians win by the crazy margin of 171 runs they will be playing their last match of IPL 2021. If the Indians don’t bat first then they will be out regardless of the result.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

I’ve been wanting to see something from the Sunrisers Hyderabad since they had been knocked out of the competition and to be fair to them they showed it in their win over the Royal Challengers Bangalore last time out. I don’t think we saw the best of them by any stretch of the imagination but when things looks like they might be getting away from them it would have been easy for a team in their position to just fall to a tame defeat but they fronted up and turned it around.

They deserve a lot of credit for that and if they can come away from this one with a win and formulate a couple of combinations that they can move forward with then they would have salvaged something from what has been a wreckage of a season. They have absolutely nothing to lose here so they can throw caution to the wind and if their star players use the freedom to their advantage then it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise were the Sunrisers to win here.

Mumbai Indians

I guess you always have to try to do what is needed to qualify but there is next to no chance of the Mumbai Indians qualifying for the knockout stages from here, or at least if they do then we will have witnessed one of the most amazing things in the history of cricket. It will be interesting to see firstly if the Mumbai Indians bat first and if they do whether they alter their batting order to get the bigger hitters much closer to the top.

Whatever they do in this match I think it is important for the Mumbai Indians to win this game. Their season since the restart has been an absolute train wreck so salvaging anything from the carnage will be welcome. There is a World T20 beginning next weekend so there are players who can come out of this match is better form than they are currently in and that is another thing for certain players to play for even though this is a team game.

Key Men

Jason Roy has clicked into gear and certainly improved the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He looked like he was going big in the last match until he was run out but he has another chance to show that he belongs at the top of the Sunrisers’ order.

You would think for the Mumbai Indians to have any chance of posting a score which gives them even a sniff of qualifying then Kieron Pollard is going to need one of those incredible blitzes which he is one of few players who can produce such a thing.

Betting

I’m going to work on the premise that this is a dead rubber but if the Mumbai Indians bat first then it would be pretty stupid for them not to run the score up as much as they can, or at least look to, just in case they can give themselves something to bowl at to qualify and even if they bat second they have some huge hitters who could attack these boundaries with disdain so I’m happy to leave the match betting alone and head over to the Mumbai Indians total sixes market.

The line is 5.5 sixes so if the Indians bat first then you’ve got to think their top six will take enough risks to blow that out of the water but the ego of the likes of Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya will dictate that they try and clear the ropes as much as possible in the second innings. That 5.5 line looks pretty low for this Mumbai Indians batting unit at the best of times but when you factor in the situational prospects I expect it to be covered comfortably.
