There is just the one match in the Indian Premier League on Sunday as the competition heads back to the Wankhede Stadium for the clash between the Lucknow Super Giants and what is usually the home team here Mumbai Indians.
It is fair to say that these two could scarcely be enjoying much different campaigns to one another with the Super Giants up and running and sitting in a good position in the table while the Indians are halfway through their season and yet to win a match.
Lucknow Super Giants
Although they are enjoying a positive first season in the Indian Premier League, the Lucknow Super Giants have lost two of their last three matches and they will just need to be careful to ensure that run doesn’t continue. The table is so tight at the minute that successive losses can send you a long way down it whereas a win can bump you up a few positions. That brings its own pressure but if they are going to win the competition they’ll need to be able to play under that scrutiny.
The positive for the Lucknow side is that the match they won in that time was against this opponent Mumbai Indians so they are least have the advantage of knowing they have the beating of the team in front of them. They could do with a resounding display from their bowlers just for peace of mind and confidence moving forward. The other thing which would help is if the remainder of the top four other than the openers could deliver big runs.
Mumbai Indians
This season has just been a complete disaster for the Mumbai Indians. They just can’t seem to deliver a complete performance. If the batters go well the bowlers undo all their hard work and on the rare occasions they have bowled well their batters have not been able to get going. The end result of that is that they have played seven matches and lost the lot and while they will try and make out their can still make the play-offs even if 14 points is enough they would need a much better run rate than they have.
Whether they still believe they can qualify remains to be seen but if they don’t then you would hope as a neutral looking on that they will free up and allow their best play to come out. They still have some brilliant cricketers to entertain us and it would be nice if over the second part of the season we see those players at their best. I would imagine they’ll have one last go under the pressure situation of thinking they are competitively still alive.

Key Players
Quinton de Kock is one of the Lucknow Super Giants players who is up against his old team on his former home ground here and he’ll be eager to show them what they are missing. If he can get Lucknow off to a fast start half the battle might well be won.
Rohit Sharma hasn’t really shown what he can do in the tournament yet and it would really help the Mumbai Indians if their captain and one of their superstar batters could come to the party and get his team off to something of a flyer.
Betting
We saw in the last match at the Wankhede that the wickets are beginning to play how we come to expect them to do. There was an absolute avalanche of boundaries in that match and I see no reason why this one won’t follow in a similar vein between two sides whose batting is deep and full of talent, quality and power and whose bowlers haven’t always been up to the standards which might have been expected of them.
The boundaries line for this match is 42.5 which feels a little on the low side anyway when you consider the batting talent which is on show in this contest and the relatively small size of the boundaries and the way the ball flies around at this place. Even though it wasn’t on this ground there were 51 boundaries when they met for the first time this season a week or so ago and I see no reason why there won’t be a similar number here.
