There is another double header of action in the Indian Premier League on Sunday and it begins at the DY Patil Stadium as two teams on six points collide when the Punjab Kings go up against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The winner of this match will join the three teams setting the pace on eight points while the losers will still be in a decent position to launch a chase for the top four in the second half of the regular season so both sides can attack this without too much to lose.
Punjab Kings
The Punjab Kings have three wins from their five matches but if you were being awkward and wanted to doubt them then you could easily make the point that two of those victories have come against Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings who have one win in 11 matches between them. That would be being a little harsh though because although the Punjab side are anything but the finished article, they play in a manner which will have all the teams under pressure.
I still feel that they need to use their brains a little more with the bat in hand. I don’t mind them going for everything but just now and again they need to accept the game situation and make sure they don’t run out of batters after 15 overs. The fact they are going for everything is a clear indication that they are fully aware that their bowling is a little light. That is likely to mean their approach of everything must go isn’t going to change anytime soon.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
You have to give a huge amount of credit to the Sunrisers Hyderabad. I really did fear the worst for them after they lost their opening two matches after a pretty average campaign last term. To their credit they have now won three on the spin and while it is easy to say they were going to come good when Kane Williamson got up to speed, he hasn’t really had too much of an impact in those wins, at least not with the bat anyway.
The Sunrisers have generally worked their way into matches with the ball but actually it has been their batting which has caught the eye in their three victories. It is certainly never a bad thing when both units are going well at the same time and the fact that the Sunrisers have held their nerve in a couple of tricky run chases recently bodes well. The one question which remains over them is whether they can win when they bat first because they have chased in all five matches so far.

Key Players
There isn’t a great deal of mystery spin on offer for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in this match so Liam Livingstone might be able to pin his ears back and let it fly in this one. He was undone by a beauty of a yorker from Jasprit Bumrah in the previous match and will look to get back to scoring ways here.
Rahul Tripathi showed that he could take a decent Kolkata bowling attack to the cleaners in the previous match and now he gets a much inferior bowling unit to feast on. It will be interesting to see if he can continue his positive form.
Betting
These day games have in the main been pretty high scoring and I’m not convinced anything changes in that regard here. To be fair to the Sunrisers Hyderabad they have an excellent bowling unit but I don’t think the Punjab Kings care about that. They are just going to go after the bowling whoever it is coming at them and as such I’m expecting a high scoring game here. You would say the Sunrisers are slightly inferior to their opponents with the bat but not to the extent they won’t score runs.
The Sunrisers batters will be going up against one of the weaker attacks in the competition all things being equal so they are likely to score runs which makes me think that the boundary line for this one is very low at 41.5. We’ve had some good results on this market in recent matches and given the way the Punjab Kings play and the form that the Sunrisers top order are in I think we will be able to collect more winnings from it here.
