IPL 2022 – Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Tips and Betting Preview

There is one match in the Indian Premier League on Tuesday and it sees two sides who have wins under their belt meeting at the Wankhede Stadium when the Rajasthan Royals take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The Royals are setting the early pace at the top of the table and are one of just two remaining undefeated sides in the competition while the Royal Challengers are midway down the pile and looking to move level with Rajasthan with a second win here.

Rajasthan Royals

I made my feelings quite clear on the Rajasthan Royals from the outset in this competition and they certainly haven’t let me down so far. The immediately positive thing for the Royals is that not only have they won two matches from two outings, they have also won them both when batting first which is very much going against the curve of this competition so far. One of those wins was a day game but they have also won when defending under lights.

If you were being critical of the Rajasthan outfit it would be that they have beaten the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Mumbai Indians and neither of those have a win between them so far in the competition. For me though it isn’t who they have beaten it is how they have done it and they have done it very well. Their key batters are playing well and in form and their bowlers have hit the ground running. They look in very good order.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

I think it is fair to say that the Royal Challengers Bangalore were always going to improve as the competition went on because there are so many Australian players in their ranks who are not around at the beginning of the competition. A couple of them have arrived in the form of Jason Behrendorff and Josh Hazlewood but this match might come too soon for the pair so that improvement might have to wait.

The one area where Bangalore can certainly improve even without reinforcements arriving is with the bat. They were ordinary in their second match with the bat in hand but to be fair to them they did chase down over 200 in their opening match, although that was only against the Punjab Kings who seem to have had an issue taking wickets at the time. Wanindu Hasaranga came to the party with the ball last time out and it would be hugely important if he keeps his form strong.

Key Players

Yuzvendra Chahal was the leading wicket taker for Royal Challengers Bangalore for many years and now he will take them on for the first time. He will know how to deal with the key Bangalore batters and will be a key man in this match.

Wanindu Hasaranga is rapidly rising up the stock levels in T20 cricket at the minute and he has a good record against Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson in particular. If he can keep them quiet and send them on their way then Bangalore will go a long way to winning the match.

Betting

I am pretty surprised that you can get a sixes line for this match which is just 11.5 sixes. I say that because this is the Wankhede where the boundaries are small and the ball flies miles. This will be the fourth match here and they have been moving the matches around the square at all the other grounds so I’m guessing that will happen here too because this ground hosts more matches than most of the other ones.

The other reason why I like the over on that sixes line is because Rajasthan Royals have built their side to hit big. They have hitters right the way down their order but it isn’t just them who are going to contribute to the six hitting here. We just saw Andre Russell go bonkers on this ground and even though the Punjab Kings only made 137 in the last match here they still smacked eight sixes. The potential for sixes is a lot higher than this line and odds suggest so I’ll happily jump on the over here.
